Hi,Thanks twilight and jtoh! Think will let them take a trial class at attitude studio and see if they like it. The only qualm i have about attitude studio is that they have a big yearly concert by the students and i believe all got to participate? There will be additional rehearsals and also extra cost involved for costumes.
Do all studios have this? I just want my kids to take ballet for fun. Dont wanna be too serious about it unless they are.
As far as I understand, the participation will still subject to parents consents. Even for the ballet exam, it will also depend whether you would like them to take up exam or just treat it as the fun and relax lesson. From what I understand, some parents really let the girl to join for the sake of relax and fun and did not enrol them in the exam. -
I never take exams. My mum doesn't want me to get stressed and worked up over ballet exams, since I don't plan on becoming professional. I just do it because I love dancing
I guess most dance schools will have recital. Performance experience is very very important in dance, and it is usually very fun too. But I realised I enjoy performing more as I grow older. Last time in primary school, performance was just performance to me. I couldn't appreciate the hard work we had to put in to practice. Now, I even find the extra practice enjoyable, and use it as a further opportunity to fine tune my technique. -
Hi,
I actually let my girl to take exam but basically, I do not really actually enforced her with practising at home. Because the coaching is already quite intensive. Maybe to the extense, you will think that the kid is very stressed. But I think I that she must also exposed to the exam environment. As for performance, I think that this is the exposure to kids especially they must learn to face with crowd as my girl is more of shy type. -
oh I see… My girls are pretty shy too so will have to see if they are keen next time to take on recitals, etc. As for exams, will cross the bridge when it comes. Thanks for all the input!

Not all centres have annual concerts. I prefer dance schools which have such recitals/concerts. It gives the kids something to work towards and dance is about performance. It helps build confidence, learning to dance together in formation, a little bit of independence. It's good fun. Thanks twilight and jtoh! Yes, there will be additional rehearsals and extra cost. I'm sure you can opt out if you prefer your child not to take part. -
Like jtoh, i also prefer a school which has performance opportunities for the children. Believe it's good for building confidence in them, and it's good exposure for a holistic learning experience. :celebrate:
Esp after seeing my DD in her pre-school's end-of-year concert, i'm all the more convinced that such experience is very valuable. I was a proud mamma that day! -
Yeah proud mamas hehe :rahrah:
Me too, I also prefer those with concerts. I know Dance station have one yearly & Attitude only have one every 2 years.Serendipity:

All the proud parents and grandparents can go watch the concert with their cameras and video cams.
