Pen88n:
ABRSM theory exams may be conducted at a few venues if the number of participants are more. You gals must be at the same venue to be able to meet up
Anyway, there are always many participants (in hundreds), so difficult to guess who's who unless you especially arrange to meet up
ha ha......and I thot everyone at the same place....cos' last year when i was at Bukit Merah, it was soooooo crowded.
Thanks for the explanation.....next time I'll ask the piano teacher to try to book at a location nearer to my home. -
BeContented:
I've been to 3 different locations for ABRSM theory exams before - Verge at Tekka area, PSC college (is that the right name?) at Bukit Merah area and Royal Hotel at Newton area. Depending on the number of participants, they booked venues accordingly.Pen88n:

my boy’s ans: No. cos the bread mould can’t bear fruits like a plant.
His dad said: No, how do you know the bread mould cant bear fruit, the qns din say so.
And they argue over this and both unhappy…now went to take a nap:< -
Dino mummy:
No, the bread mould is not a plant, it is a fungi. Will have to get reason from my son later.Hi

Hi Dino mummy
The answer is contributed from my son:
- I disagree.
- The bread mould is not a plant and it bears spores.
- It belongs to the group, fungi.
- It does not has leaves, stem and roots.
- It does not contain chlorophyll, so they cannot make their own food like plants. -
TulipisPink:
Thanks Pink for the detailed answer. I am definitely going to ask my son for the characteristics of fungi. Doing quite a bit of human/plant reproduction as well as water cycles of late. Quite worried about his knowledge of lower block science.Qns: \"the bread mould is a plant.\"Do you agree with her? Give a reason.

My son said only 1 mark allocated to the question so why need to write so much... :faint: -

\"Disagree. Breadmould is a fungi and not a plant as it does not make its own food while a plant makes its own food.\"
the key diff betwn fungi and plant is how they obtain food.
having spores is not their differentiation as birds nest fern is a plant with spores.
ability to bear fruits is not a differentiation too as some plants do not bear fruits. -
HI Dino Mummy,
1 mark to a child seems like very little...but that 1 mark for Science is hard to get, esp in OE section. If the child doesn't write the keyword, he/she won't even get a 1/2 mark :faint:
For labelling of diagrams, it could be 1/2 mark for 1 correct answer...that is really tough. So I'm going through words like umbilical cord, fertilisation, photosynthesis, chlorophyll these few days. Can't afford to take it for granted that he knows.
