Also, I hope that people happen to read all these don’t misconstrue that we are competitive or numbers freak. The numbers themselves don’t tell much thing, that is why we need to compare numbers to get an idea relative standing. But of course, some people will still argue that results are not everything, you need to see value-addedness etc… I agree but so far, we only have numbers that compare certain aspects.

          jtoh:
Number scoring perfect University Admission Points of 90:

          RI - 332
          HCI - 94

(Please add other JCs if you have the info.)
jtoh, I think you are comparing 2 different things. HCI has 94 students scoring distinctions for all the subjects they take. This is not the same as scoring perfect Uni Admission points of 90.

Sorry. Misread. Have amended with correct info:

Number of students scoring distinctions in all subjects taken:

            RI: 130
            HCI: 94

Hi, anyone knows how to compute the scoring for Uni Admission? Not able to get this info from NUS. NTU, MOE websites.

                Thanks.

I came across this in the brightsparks forum ---> http://forum.brightsparks.com.sg/showthread.php?t=4225 by Rui

Calculation of University Admission Score (for Standard subject combination)

                  Local universities take into account all six subjects (3 H2, 3 H1; in a case of a student with 4 H2, the H2 with the worst grade will be directly converted to a H1 - i.e. a B in your 4th H2 will become a H1 B).

The subjects contribute to a University admission score.

Each H2 subject has a maximum of 20 points for an A, with a decrement of 2.5 points for each grade (i.e. A-20; B-17.5; C-15 etc.).

Each H1 subject has a maximum of 10 points for an A, with a decrement of 1.25 points for each grade (i.e. A-10, B-8.75; C-7.5 etc.)

                  Effectively H1 is \"halve\" the H2. Hence, with straight A's in all 6 subjects, one can attain the maximum of (20 + 20 + 20 + 10 + 10 + 10) 90 points.

[/quote]That is why I said i haven't checked this perfect scorers numbers. There is subtle difference of how they phrase it. Another one:

One school say: \"Percentage of students getting at least 3 distinctions is x%\"
Another schoolmat say:\" Percentage of students getting at least 3 H2 distinctions is x%\"

                    There is a difference.

Someone just told me that Tan Zhi Xiang has 4H2, 2H1, 2H3 and HMT (A1) and IPS gold medal, while Koh Ming Ming has 4H2, 3H1, 1H3 and HMT (A1). Shouldn't Tan Zhi Xiang be recognised as the overall nationwide top this year?

Seems like RI is the undisputed top school in SIngapore again.

Look at their result release. Very impressive, I must say.
