      Just relax:

I think we need to be more positive about CNY! Too many complaints about MILs at a time when we are supposed to be reaffirming our family ties. The MIL stories can go on forever everyday but CNY comes once a year!

never mind, let Janet vent out her frustration.
not every family has understanding MIL. If yours happen to have one, then indeed you're blessed. Protect your blessings. Unfortunately, not everyone in this world is blessed.
We can't choose our relatives. We can't choose our own MIL, FIL, SIL, BIL, can we ?

Yes I know we can't and sometimes it is overwhelming but nevertheless there is always tomorrow :rahrah:

We, as younger generation, still need to do what we shd do. Last time when people tell me this, I thought - don’t bull shit la, where got such thing? They won’t change de lah.but now, I see it for myself.

Don't worry about the ranting... It's good to let off steam... Better to let it off here than amongst family members which could lead to further disharmony.

DH also lost his temper over something my mother said... and blasted at us. Son in law and mil issues. :slapshead: Spoilt CNY for me .... But will look on the bright side there's 15 days to CNY.

Yes, especially when they get older and suddenly realized they would need you more than you need them eventually.

:hi5: my mil only changed after she fell very very sick. Her children were either very busy (daughter working shifts, got maid and kid prob, younger son's wife in and out of hospital due to complicated pregnancy) or not in sg (my hubby). I try to help where I can.
