Zoophonics
-
My daughter is attending zoophonics at JW branch. She is in the toddler class for the past 6 months and she really enjoys it. Her teacher is very patient and nice. Although the teacher doesn’t seem to be local but I am fine with it as i think she speaks well.
I chose Zoophonics out of all the enrichment classes such as GUG, Bibinogs & etc is due to the location & curriculum. I like it that the curriculum for toddlers consists of singalong, Phonics (A-Z), storytelling and crafts. It is an all-rounder. Now my girl is 2 years old and she knows how to pronounce most of the alphabets & do the actions.
Right now the class is still parent-accompanied until 3 years. Not sure if she will cry when she gets promoted in future, lol. -
Is there a new branch opening at seletar airbase side? i am looking at a school that teach with phonics method for my 21 month old son.

Hi Mummies,
I just called the Thomson branch for Zoophonics for appointment not a very nice experience I should say. However I go down and evaluate the school 1st.
Anyone who send their kids to Thomson branch can share their experience on the teachers, are they good?
Thanks! -
I am in a dilema whether to change my son’s sch who is now in a cc. Visited BT branch and well, nothing fantastic w/ the decor of the ctr, classroom was not colourful nor interesting bt my son said he likes it!
However, I was rather shocked by the expensive bus fare. $170! I can pay for another enrichment already. For the sch fees + bus, I can almost pay for another domestic helper!
Anyway I find the counter staff rather ‘agressive’. I said I will decide when my helper is settled down. Then they told me "oh they also hv cc…" I say yes bt exp right $650? They say yeah lah. I say I have 2 kids. She added "yeah lah, so $650 is after subsidy, so 2 kids would be $1.3k". I told her off "1k now is enuff to kill me, let alone 1.3k." Only then she kept quiet.
Curriculum is gd I do not deny as I could see it frm my gfs’ kids. Bt I think maybe bcos they are still a pte organization, hence they still tend to gear towards the $-making mentality.
I have not made the decision yet bcos I am considering other schools. -
I wanted to sign my girl up for I Can Read cos wanted her to learn phonics but was told that ZooPhonics is better. I’ve been trying to call Zoophonics Thomson since last week. No one picks up the phone. There were no reply to my email and they don’t return call. I give up! Lorna Whiston is having open house today. I’ll probably just check them out.

My girl has been in zoo phonics thomson for almost a year already. The teachers were very kind and patient and the admin even helped to toilet trained my girl. Really appreciated that.
However there was a teacher from philippine who does not teach my girl appoached me one day to borrow few hundred dollars. I was so shock.
How can teachers borrow money from parents ? Hope the school look
into this matter seriously. -
Hi,
I have started my gal at zoophonics in Oct and she enjoy the lessons very much. The admin lady can remember all the kids name which I am very impressed though when I called the centre she doesn't sound friendly. haha
The chinese teacher Ms Liu conducting N1 weekend class is friendly and takes good care of all the kids.
Parents should give this centre a try

I started my 2.5 year old at the Thomson Branch in Nov, can’t say much for the admin staff - brusque is an understatement
My child’s currently in the unaccompanied weekend class, so I don’t have much oversight of what it being done in the class except through the workbooks that she brings back every week. However, she’s been singing some of the songs taught in the class, knows some of the letter sounds and seems quite happy to go there every weekend. We’ll probably place her there for at least a few more months so she can settle down and we can make a better evaluation…
