Any sugguestions to games that can introduce Chinese words for a 3yrs old?

Got hard time getting him to be interested in Chinese character as he is now too into alphabets! Wants to form words only. Stuck at chapter 3 now 😞
for me , my son like to play cars.. or do-do-train, so i play the word card with him by move the cards from one place to another, at the first, i set the rules: i read the card loudly and move it... he follow me....

if he can read the words , i will follow him..

he work very hard and always want to \"win\" me --that's exactly what i want :imcool:

last time i bought one book from my friend 《新编婴幼儿识字百法》,if you can read in Chinese, this book is very helpful, introduce many games for 识字.

            HI,

My gal is going primary 1 next year. Is she still suitable to read 四五快读 ?

I have not expose her to these books before. She is only attending the K2 Chinese Prep classes from ZhengFei now.

            Can someone advise ? Thanks.

I certainly don't think it is too late. The standard of the 四五快读 are higher than the P1 standard.

My son also going to P1 next year. I'm amazed how quickly his Chinese improved when we diligently used these books everyday from March this year. We have just completed Book 6. I also got a tutor to come in twice
week for 1.5 hours to coach him as well - she teach from 四五快读, reads other story books with him and also teach Hanyu Pinyin.

            Hi

Mind giving me your tutor contact details... Looking for one to teach my daughter Chinese who is K2 now

In March, the tutor said he wasn't ready for P1 - now she tells me my son is reading at P2-P3 standard already. 四五快读 provides the foundation for word recognition - once the child can recognise a minimum number of words, they can read simple Chinese books and they will progress very fast from there.

If the parent knows Chinese and can spend time everyday reading from 四五快读 with the child, it will be more effective than any Chinese enrichment, prep class.

Bought my set at book fest 2011 too, just got my 4 yr old gal started not long ago.

so far almost finish Bk 1, my gal is interested in learning and will even automatically take out the box that contain the cards, come to me and say in Chinese that she want to play the word cards!

what I do is put all word cards that she already learn on the floor, say one word or sentence like - Tian Shang You Tai Yang, then she will pick up the cards that form the sentence. next she will pretend that shes the teacher and say a word then it’s my turn to pick up the card. Sometime I will purposely pick the wrong card then she will correct me, and she will feel so proud of it!

IMO this set of learning material is good enough for home teaching, no need to go for chinese enrichment and at the same time is good bonding with gal.

                    Hello everyone!

After reading this thread, i bought the SWKD and also found a chinese tutor who will come to my house once a week @ $40 an hr. (My colleague told me that’s too expensive, but no choice cos i dont know any others).

I want the tutor to teach SWKD to my N2 daughter, such that she will have a good foundation before P1 and not struggle like me. How should tell the teacher to spend that 1 hr effectively? 15 mins SWKD + read story books? Or is that sufficient?

I have no ablity to read chinese books without Han Yu Pin Ying, plus i have no time to do anything after i get home from work.

Anyone has advice for me? Thanks!

Is your N2 daughter able to last 1 hour of tuition?

The 1st lesson starting next week. Not sure, if that’s too long or short. So far, she is ok with group classes that are 1.5 hrs.
