pixy, you can’t rely on the once a week 1 hr lesson to reap the benefits of SWKD. Parent must involve in the teaching process. 10minutes a day will be better than 1 hr a week.

Thanks for feedback on the pricing… I like the teacher (she is a cheerful looking lady fr China who is good with little kids), and not willing to insult her and nego lower. My husband thinks its not a lot, cos its prob the cost of a 2 way taxi from her house to ours. Anyway, first lesson next week. so will see how it goes.

My main aim is for her to teach SWKD and read Chinese story books to my daughter. I would like her to complete the whole series by K2. I dont know how to teach chinese, and can only revise the words that she has learnt in Berries and Xuelin. It may seem like a lot of chinese lessons for her. We come from totally english environment, and only my FIL can speak chinese. My daughter’s 1st exposure to mandarin was only last year in N1. After a year, she can understand what the teacher is saying, but will respond in english.

Any other tips to share on how i can help my daughter?

This is my view. SWKD has step by step instructions on how to teach plus for each new Chinese characters the author wrote suggestions on how to teach it to the child. The parent only need like 10 to 30 mins each day, depending on the receptiveness of the child, to go thru each lesson.

I still respect your decision to engage a tutor but I just want to share that it does not take up too much time per day to go thru each lesson.

As to how else to help your child, you can borrow or buy interesting storybooks for her to read, let her watch some Chinese shows. There are a couple good ones shown during the wkends in the morning.

Thanks everyone for your kind feedback. I have no idea how to use SWKD or play the games, as i cannot read chinese without han yu pin ying and may not understand the words. I glazed over at the 30 page forward on how to use the series. 😞

Any sugguestions to games that can introduce Chinese words for a 3yrs old?

Got hard time getting him to be interested in Chinese character as he is now too into alphabets! Wants to form words only. Stuck at chapter 3 now 😞

for me , my son like to play cars.. or do-do-train, so i play the word card with him by move the cards from one place to another, at the first, i set the rules: i read the card loudly and move it... he follow me....

if he can read the words , i will follow him..

he work very hard and always want to \"win\" me --that's exactly what i want :imcool:

last time i bought one book from my friend 《新编婴幼儿识字百法》,if you can read in Chinese, this book is very helpful, introduce many games for 识字.
