LKVM:
I would believe they would have done their homework.
Maybe PAP didnt know WP having A team in Aljunied before nomination day
And WP did starting reaching out to residents long before the elections.. it's not a sudden decision. And Aljunied is a natural target given that it is the best performer in 2006. -

Agree with you on this totally, as this is also what I think is best... I mean, what is an EP after being a foreign minister for so many years? Although I still can't get over the loss of him... with tears in my eyes
I really think GY has it good now to exit politics for him personally and exiting graciously with a high reputation. For us, it is certainly a loss. So it's whether he is looking at it \"Half full or half empty\"starlight1968sg:

I can understand when one of forummers said that one of her friends responded with \" We lost GY\" after receiving a Happy Mothers' Day text message... frankly I felt like that too. -

If it comforts you, Oscar Wilde said this: \"Put your talent into your work, but your genius into your life\". GY has put talent into his work so it is time for him to put genius into HIS life. -

:thankyou: buddy! Will remember that.

Happy Mama:
:hi5: mine as well... still remember as kids, we always go to polyclinic whenever we were sick as it was free...
Funz, :hi5: :hi5:Funz:
Actually not unbelievable. My dad had a triple bypass and paid less then $50 in total. He stayed in A class ward and had his choice of surgeons.
But he no minister hor, not even top manage of the last company he worked in. He benefitted from the pension scheme that he took up upon retirement. So tell him anything negative about PAP, he will shoot you down.
And he will go on to say, and indirectly, we, his children benefitted cos we don't have to fork out a single cent to pay his medical fees and down the line, our children benefit cos we as their parents will have more money to spend on them and so on and so forth. So dun say what the policies set by them last time is not applicable to this generation, blah, blah, blah, blah.
My parents too, are living on \"Ah Kong's\" money. Under pension scheme and all medical is free, plus every month get pocket allowance somemore. My mum has been telling us how lucky we kids are as we have never had to fork out a single cent for their operations.

I also want to join you all and
It is really a bitter pill to swallow - to have TPL and to lose GY for good.
I kept thinking he will continue to contribute to Singapore in other ways.
Quoted from GY's press statement :
\"..Mr Low Thia Kiang himself said that they won Aljunied not because the Aljunied team did not do a good job, but because the voters wanted WP to be their voice in Parliament..\"
Very true.
Took me a few minutes to recover from the Del-Monte joke, any more to cheer me up ? :gloomy: I really very gek-sim :slapshead:
