Rose,
P2 is too early for compo writing; you may have short term gain but long term lost of interest! This is what I had put my children thru! Regret! They seems to do well in P3, P4 but lost the interest because foundation was not properly built. I check out last weekend with my 2 children at Xuelin Learning in Bukit Timah Plaza, spoken to their teachers, had seen their materials(current, and doing newspaper readingfrom K1 to S4), very impressed with them. But sorry, I have not seen P2 ones. You may want to check them out! -
Hi GG
You mean you put your kid through Busy Bees compo class and regretted? Can share the reason for the weak foundation?
Was thinking of switching my kid from Berries to Busy Bees coz of the distance and also becoz parents say Berries more for pre-school.
Anyone tried the Sin Ming branch? -
Dear Cherrygal, I put my children to Busybee since they were P3 for both the compo writing and and the paper 2. Yes, I regretted that I didn’t listen to them who had dragged their feet to the classes, I thought it was just the Chinese tinggy. Their materials are very drilling(填鸭式)and just force down to the children. Very wordy but if you read carefully, it doesn’t help the children very much in the long run. The vocabs are very limited and they just memorised but can’t really used them on their own. I must say that it’s was also my fault that I didn’t evaluate the materials nor revised when they came home. Horror struck me when I was packing the files and reading them after my son’s P5 SA1. I pulled out immediately but damage done! especially to my elder one.

Hi I’m new to this forum. My ds and dd have gone for several other Chinese enrichment classes from Berries (dd started in K1), EduPlus and now settled in BusyBee (Rail Mall). I must say by far, Busybee seems to be the best of the lot. My ds is sitting for his PSLE this year and we have enrolled him to the compo class since late last year. He has improved quite significantly after the ‘drill’ every class to complete the compo writing in class. My dd is in the enrichment classes and she has been scoring well above her classmates in the all girls school. So, we are still quite happy that Busybee is helping them love the chinese language and also to do well in their school.
Our (my children’s) experience with Berries was teachers in the lower primary were generally more accommodating and encouraging. Those in upper primary were not too motivated to teach the children (like my ds) who needed more attention. So, my ds literally dragged his feet when it was time for his Berries classes. We attended the one at Tanglin CC, near Stevens Road as we are living close by.
Then, the switch was to EduPlus at UE Square as ds attended one of their holiday programmes and thoroughly enjoyed it. But dd lamented that she missed the ‘challenging’ lessons at Berries. And when EduPlus pulled out from UE square, we decided to try BusyBee. There was no vacancy left for our ds at Balmoral, so we signed up at Rail Mall. It’s a little far for us (traffic can often build up before or after lesson), but we thought it is worthwhile.
Hope this helps with some questions on Berries versus BusyBee (and also EduPlus). -

Busy Bees Chinese in Balmoral park is on Waiting list.
You can choose the day you like, because the schedule of each primary level is fixed.
If i not wrong, they dont have preparation of P1.
Busy bee is strong in writing compo.
