Today I suddenly thought of our past Presidents. President Sheares I remember when I was very young. Then the next one I really LIKE is Mr Wee Kim Wee & his wife. Couple very dignified and kindly, like grandparents of our dream! Next is Mr Ong but seems his tenure was too short for me to form much of an impression. Then the recent Mr Nathan, also seems to be those kindly type!
So if I think back what sort of President I like, think it is those kindly, grandfatherly type. One with a HEART for our people. One when I think of him gives me a warm feeling and nothing associated with politics.
Is there such a person among the 4…? Currently am considering Mr TCB… -

PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION 2011
Heated exchange on ISA at political forum
By Tessa Wong
A discussion on the Internal Security Act and the 1987 Marxist conspiracy arrests led to a short heated exchange between presidential candidates Tan Jee Say and Dr Tony Tan at a forum on Thursday night.
Organised by the sociopolitical blog The Online Citizen (TOC), the two-hour forum was held at Fort Canning Centre on Thursday night and had about 20 people posing questions to all four candidates.
A representative from human rights group Maruah asked the candidates for their views on the Internal Security Act, which was used in 1987 to detain 22 people accused of being Marxists who were planning to overthrow the Government.
She also asked them whether they would think the 1987 arrests were justified, in light of current evidence.
The exchange happened when Mr Tan Jee Say said he believed the ISA had 'outlived its usefulness', adding: 'I don't even know whether it was justified in the first place, because the ISA has been used on political opponents, and those who are on the other political side of the law. So the history is such that it has been used for political purposes.'
Dr Tony Tan then sternly interrupted him, saying: 'I think this is, to be fair, when one says it has been used against political opponents, I think this is a very serious charge. You must be able to back it up!'
Mr Tan then vigorously tried to argue back, saying he had been 'attacked on my understanding of the English language', but was eventually stopped by the moderator, Mr Viswa Sadasivan.
TOC will be releasing more videos from the forum on Saturday and Sunday.
