Flowermonaster:
This year PSLE starts 2 days earlier than last year's and also ends 2 days earlier.
Thank you pench! The time table look about the same as last year.pench:

PSLE 2012:
My DS came back with high As for MT and English but a B for Math. Never had that for Math before. I can't help but feel a little anxious but told him to learn from the experience and move on.
Chill
I got a B (62marks) for my Math in P6 CA1 too.
Maybe this math paper is a \"wake-up-call\"?

DD's CA1 ended yesterday with the Math paper. I asked her how was it and she said ok. When I asked her how many marks does she think she can get, she said 50 marks; and smiling some more. The mother wants to 'pengsan' already! She's just so happy that CA1 is over and asked if she can play the whole day. Let her play and did not disturb her for the rest of yesterday, but told her that work will start again today.
yes, let her play!
My dad looked me straight in the eye one day and said, \"make sure she plays and not just studies\".
My reply, \"Whenever I'm screaming at her, it's because she's not budging when I tell her to go down and play!!\"
My neighbours must think I'm :siao: when they hear \"Go down and play, NOW!!!\"

Can anyone with experience guide me how I should prepare my son for PSLE this year (2012)? Its just past the CA1 and March is upon us. He only scored between 60-75 for his various subjects and that is causing me to panic!!!
Help please anyone! Am I supposed to make him study very subject every day with no break and cut all CCA? What's the best strategy for learning? He doesn't go for tuition except for Chinese, which I can't speak . We don't have enough money for tuition, so got to help him by myself. I am working part time so can only be with him sometimes.

I don't care March hols are holidays or not in the teachers' context. I declare it so and will be packing the bags soon! Yeppee....come Sunday... :imcool:fifiyeo:
I felt a chill go through my spine when I saw the PSLE time table. Almost like awaiting a death sentence...I'm afraid.
Oct 2 2012 is day of freedom.
From now, it is building tolerance and stamina...march hols are no hols though. Same goes for June. Was told by his teacher that they have to return for extra lessons in the first week. I had problems breathing and hyperventilating...especially during the 2 weeks before CA.
A psychologist once told me that in order not to burn out, one must have a good total break after every \"sprint\" event. In this case, the \"sprint\" event was CA1 and it's step down for 10 days with minimum work which we will take along on our trip. -

For us, we've had our break in the past few weeks. Today, it's back to work. -

:rotflmao:[/quote]Are you a student? Tell your parents, you absorb much more when you take a play break. This has been my strategy for years and it works!!

It's hard for me too. Takes a lot of discipline and self-control. But I work him VERY HARD. By about 13 Feb this year, he was burning out. I wanted to do more but I did not dare. He needed to play.
We're stepping up the tempo as of today again. Working HARD. He is very motivated. CA1 was a killer. The papers came back with plenty to analyze and lots of areas for improvement. He has rested a good 3 weeks and is full of energy to get back to it again. -
My boy just got his CA1 results too. Just like most of the schools, it turns out to be killer papers too. His teachers had retained the class after school, to give them a good scolding for not up to expectation. He is in 6B & supposed to be the 2nd best class, (9 classes in his level) but still some of them could not even pass the CA1 papers. Hope that the PSLE papers will not be that tough. At the same time, have to ask my boy to work harder. Jia You, all 2012 PSLE dragon boys & girls!
