My son's science improved slightly...got out of 60 marks range :rahrah: Hit 70. For maths, he finally passed and I am setting 75 for SA1. He should be able to hit if he focus and be more careful and practise.

:congrats: for MATHS just need to practise, practise and more practise 😄

Hi Snow Crystal, your name sounds cool to me. In a way, I am happy that my boy's language papers have improved. Both from high end B to low end A. He used to dislike Chinese & he does not read Chinese books. Maybe he spends more time on reading books instead of practicing Science worksheets. His Science has dropped from high end A to low end A. That goes to his strongest subject, which is Maths, has also dropped from A* to A.

Hi. May I know what are the range of marks in PSLE for A*, A and B?

        TIA.

DD did better than expected for maths and science but her languages slid.

Perhaps coz she's been regularly revising both her maths and science but not her language subjects.

Yes sometimes, it happens that way, practising a lot in a subject may lead to improvement in that subject at expense of other subjects. But she sounds like a diligent girl :imanangel:...give her a pat for the improvement in Math and Science. Just re-focus a bit more on her languages and they will improve... Still have some time... 😄

Got a call from her MT tutor nagging about her drop in marks. Her MT teacher also messaged me. But we only focused on Maths & Science for the exams and the results reflected accordingly.

My thoughts: Wah, all so concerned, I'll leave it to them.

I’m sooo happy for DS. He made a big improvement for Maths. Scored 74. Really clawed back up from SA2 flunking with 38 marks and after failing 2 weeks in a row with practice papers before the CA exam. These past 2 months of hard work has paid off. He has used the strategies I’ve specifically taught him and what he has learnt from the enrichment centre. His beaming face was really priceless to me. It’s not so much the marks but how he described being able to apply what he has learnt and feeling motivated to continue the practice sessions.

Our strategies for science is also working so I’m going to intensify what we have tried so far. DS has performed up to expectations for science and considering we only put in 2 weeks of revision, it’s really been great to see him still doing quite well.

English & Chinese were as expected borderline passes as we didn’t do any revision there at all. Now time to start cranking up on the Language revisions. There’s really so little time in a day. March holidays, it’s time to plan & get cracking for the next hurdle SA1. Must come up with a 6 week plan.

I find this whole revision business a bit easier when I focus one week at a time, one subject at a time. Because we chose to focus on Maths & Science, we can see some fruits of our labour. Now really need to think about how to get better with the languages.

:boogie: so nice to see the teachers worrying more than me. 🕺

Am not being cocky, but it was strategic on my part to not even prod her for languages. Wanted her to freak out so that she would buck up. Never expected the teachers to freak out. :siam:

                        pixiedust:

For maths, some of the known 'good in maths' were not able to complete the last few 5marks question. Some in the top class (not my son's class) hit 60+...........hence everyone is kind of in panic mode. So this is what the school wants to achieve ?
I am trying to stay objective but the sense of defeat is overwhelming ! *sigh*
Pixiedust, if this is a killer paper, don't panic. Do you think MOE will fail bulk of the p6s?! 🤷 You must stay cool in face of the whole madness... To do 60+ in killer papers to me is already good. But ask your son to learn time management strategies from this lesson. All the best for the subsequent SA.
