At this point of time, whatever to revise and learn should be completed. What matters is for our DCs to stay upbeat, confident, healthy and most importantly HAPPY. I think we parents should not over emphasize on PSLE as our stress will add on to the kids without our knowing. They may not say it but there are tell-tale signs if you observe your DCs carefully.

Personally, I can't wait to get this PSLE thingy over soonest possible. I tell my DS that if he uses his 平常心 to sit for his PSLE and sticks to his goals, he will do fine. All the best to the DCs for their first major exam of their lives!

      Agree.
While it is really more nerve-whacking, I too have always asked my kids to go for each exam/competition/DSA etc with 平常心. Try their best at each moment & dun regret. :rahrah:
Good luck to all PSLE students. 😄

Yes, right now, what our DCs need is to be as steady as rocks. No use being anxious and getting jittery.

      Calmness is power....... 😄

It's really a cooling-off period now. All the ground work has already been laid. Now is to stay upbeat and walk bravely into the exam hall. Do not mention PSLE to them. Our kids do not need to hear that anymore. That is ONE MAIN REASON why I am keeping my son at home.

I agree that we need not mention the word PSLE to our DCs anymore. They understand it better than us now as they too feel the heat in school with all the classmates, teachers and principal talking about it.

What's crucial right now is to speak words of encouragement to build and empower them. The key is to keep BELIEVING in our DCs, have faith in them that they will do their best and can achieve.

\"As your faith is strengthened, you will find that there is no longer the need to have a sense of control, that things will flow as they will, and that you will flow with them, to your great delight and benefit.\" -- Emmanuel Teney.

Best wishes to your DS for his PSLE. 😄

:goodpost: Right now... I dun wanna focus on what he CAN'T do. Just focus on what he CAN do. Whatever will be will be... and unlike some, I DON'T have a DSA offer waiting as a safety net.

How aptly put....Focus on what he CAN do and not what he CAN'T do. I like that.

As parents, we are the main driving force for our children. At this point they need a lot of kind words of encouragement from us. Let us all parents hold up a positive mirror for our DCs and show them what they already are or have the potential to become. Keep encouraging them, believe in them, hope and endure all things because we love our children. 😄

            Essential:

You can purchase a clear pencil case ... Exam pencil case

Oh what is Exam pencil case? Do DC need that? DS did not mention anything at all!! He is still using friction pen though I told him not to.....Afraid he might not get use to other pen or his work might be messy..... 😓

I think it's better not to use friction pen, as answers might rub off or become illegible. I'm getting dd to use just good old fashion ball point pen, as less likelihood of smudging as well.

My only worry right now is that dd uses a tremendous amount of correction tape in her daily work. Been trying to \"train\" her to cut down on the correction tape, but bad habits die hard...

The start of another day is here! Meaning 1 day less to PSLE and my child still making careless mistakes! What should I do?

Is it really necessary to have a clear pencil case or use a ziplock bag for stationery?

Oh dear, about the friction pen, I actually let my DS use it for Eng and CL composition writings for all his exams so he doesn't have to tape too much and mess up his work. Looks like he has to switch to normal pens for PSLE essay writing. He is also a die-hard fan of correction tapes. Will tell him to learn to cancel unwanted words neatly with ruler now.

Smile... stroke her head... tell him/her that you will love her NO MATTER WHAT. He/She needs that from you so that she will go in full of your love and your energy to face one of the most daunting challenges in his/her life so far. He/She WILL be careless. Just face it and love him/her anyway.

And then... after hugging and all that, tip her chin up towards you and say gently \"I know it is difficult but be very very careful of careless mistakes.\" It's too late to fix anything now. Send him/her in but give her courage and inside the exam hall, he/she will think of your smiling face and warm embrace... and he/she will do her best.

I would also like to hear from all mummies if there is any advice to reduce careless mistake. My DS will always use the excuse, either see wrongly or write wrongly!

I will screen through my DS's paper, sum up the total marks lost through carelessness, convert the 'careless marks' in terms of percentage and show it to my DS. His face will turn crimson red when he sees it for himself.

The trick is to let DC feel the pinch, not us.
