We brought the kids to Marina Barrage. Saw the Flyer lights going out at 8.30pm and the kids went wild playing at the water area in darkness. Weather was wonderful that night. Thereafter, we proceeded to lau pa sat for Satay and teh tarik. Got home only at midnight.
My Dad got into the spirit of Earth Hour as well. According to my mum, he switched off all the lights and TV intending to use one of those portable camping lights for the duration. But found out that he forgot to charge the batteries and promptly plugged it into a power source.

Lesson for all: always standby an emergency torchlight or candles. -

In fact, after reading the article in ST the day after, I'm quite disappointed with the participation rate..and looking at the no. of comments from parents here, I cant help but deduce that not many people share our enthusiasm to do something, no matter how small, to signal our commitment to mother earth.
No worries, Rome wasnt built in a day. We'll continue to convince others whenever we can. -

however small or insignificant.
When will we ever learn?
till every tree is chopped down?
till all the fishes have died?
till all the animals have perished?
till our children's children know not the warmth of cuddling a puppy or a kitten?
till the sky has turned perpetually grey?
till we can no longer drink straight from the rivers n lakes?
when will we ever learn? -
My kids were very enthusiastic. Kept reminding us it was time to switch off the lights.
My girl cannot survive without a fan. When I told her \"Earth Hour\" meant no fan, too, she said \"no fan, never mind\". :!: I was so surprised with her enthusiasm.
My boy kept nagging at us when our lights were still on at 8.31 pm.
Since the kids were so on, we had better switch off the lights, etc. So, it was total darkness for us at home. We looked out of the window to \"admire\" the scenary.

I switched off computer.
I switched off lights from all rooms except kitchen (as my MIL is still doing something :P).
Did not on any aircon but 1 fan in the living room. -
Don't despair mathsparks, we participated by going out for dinner at that time, so everything was off in the house and we used the public facilities during that hour. :celebrate:
Your efforts were not wasted.
