      Hi,

      I need help Please…
      Tin Jin saved $3500 in April. His monthly salary is twice the amount he saved in April. He saved $4200 less than the amount he spent in May. How much did he save in May?

      from MPH P4 math work book, Part 1 page 53.

      TIA

        monthly salary=3500*2=7000

        Assume no change in salary,
        then in May, amt spent+amt saved=7000

        http://i48.tinypic.com/3588e2b.jpg\">

        2u->7000-4200=2800
        1u->1400

        Amt saved in May =1400

          Look at the sum below.

          72 divide by 6=12
          How would you use this to find the answer to:
          7200 divide by 6=_____

          Can anyone help to solve this question? 😓

              I have a way to solve the following question, but too long-winded. I believe there should a better method. Can someone help? Thanks.

              Ali had four times as many storybooks as Gopal. Maggie had 336 fewer storybooks than Ali. The three children had 780 storybooks. How many storybooks did the two boys have altogether?

                  Wow.. you make it looks so simple.
                  My method:
                  1. Divide the 5 block into 10 smaller blocks (10u).
                  2. Put 1u to Ali and 1u to Maggie. So, Ali now has 9u.
                  3. Then, 780-336=444.
                  4. Then, 444/2= 222.
                  5. So, Ali = 9u = 222+336=558.
                  6. So, u = 558/9 = 62.
                  7. 2 boys = 10u = 10 x 62 = 620.

                  paiseh..

                    Don't have to be paiseh.

                    We are all learning so that we can help our child. 🙂

                      Hi,
                      Can someone kindly help me on the question ?

                      1. Chenli has a collection of coins. When she put the coins in piles of fours or fives, she has 2 coins left over each time. When she puts them in piles of 6s, she has no coins left over. What is the smallest number of coins that Chenli can have?

                      Thanks!

                        Need help with the following.

                        The name STEVEN is written over and over again like this
                        STEVENSTEVENSTEVENSTEVEN…

                        How many times will the letter E appear up to the 999th position?

                        Do I take 999/6, multiply by 2 since E appears twice then plus 1 as there is a remainder meaning E appears 1 more time?
