      Hi BigDevil,
      Thank you for your answer.
      I do not understand the question? Could you explain what they means by
      sixths in the question?
      From thefreedictionary.com....

      n.
      1. (Mathematics)
      a. one of six equal or nearly equal parts of an object, quantity, measurement, etc.
      b. (as modifier) a sixth part
      2. (Mathematics) the fraction equal to one divided by six (1/6)

      So the question is asking how many 1/6's there are in the given fraction.

                6004 is correct...

                rounding to nearest 10
                largest possible --> 6000 + 10/2 -1 =6004
                smallest possible --> 6000 - 10/2 = 5995

                cheers.

                      PapayaDad:

                      between 1/2 and 5/6

                      answer 2/5 wrong

                      Thanks, PapayaDad.

                      So we can pick any 2 fractions?
                      What if the fractions must be x/y and (x+2)/(y+2) like in the question?
                      Then is it always true that x/y < (x+1)/(y+1) < (x+2)/(y+2) :?

                      Not true also. Try x = 3 and y = 2 ; then

                      3/2 < 4/3 wrong

                        Thanks in advance.

                        1)Sammy has 7/11 as much money as Jeremy. If they have a total of $198, how much money must Jeremy give Sammy so that they will have the same amount of money?

                        2) Randy and Kelly have the same number of books at first. After Randy gave away 25 books to Kelly, Randy has 3/8 as many books as Kelly. How many books id each of them have at first?
