      Winx5015:
      Hi, need help for the following questions.

      Q3). There are 648 turkeys, goats and ducks in a farm. The ratio of the number of turkeys to the total number of goats and ducks is 5:7. The ratio of the number of goats to the number of turkeys and ducks is 3:5. Find the ratio of the turkeys to the goats to the ducks.

      Thanks!
      Hi

      turkeys : goats + ducks = 5:7
      turkeys : turkeys + goats + ducks = 5 : 12 = 10 : 24

      goats : turkeys + ducks = 3 : 5
      goats : turkeys + goats + ducks = 3 : 8 = 9 : 24

      turkeys : goats : ducks
      = 10 : 9 : 24 - 10 - 9
      = 10 : 9 : 5

      cheers.

        [quote="ksme"]Pixiedust and Superbug,

        Rosyth School 2010 P5 SA2 Maths Paper 2 Q6

        Area of triangles ABX + BXY+YDC = 1/2 of Area of rectangle ABCD = 240
        Since area of BXZ = 56, the shaded area is 240-56= 184 cm2

        I donโ€™t get it. Why Area of triangles ABX + BXY+YDC = 1/2 of Area of rectangle ABCD?

            Hi, I need help with the following Qn:

            Irene had a total of 1688 red, blue and green balloons for sale. The ratio of the number of red balloons to the number of blue balloons was 2:3.

            After Irene sold 3/4 of the blue balloons, 1/2 of the green balloons and none of the red balloons, she had 922 balloons left.

            How many blue balloons did Irene have at first?

            thanks!

              Need help with one more Qn:

              In Jars A and B, there are only blue and red marbles.
              In Jar A, 65% of the 700 marbles are blue marbles.
              In Jar B, 25% of the 480 marbles are red marbles.
              After some of the marbles in both jars were transferred, 20% of the marbles in Jar A and 40% of the marbles in Jar B were red.
              How many marbles were there in Jar B after the change?

              thanks

                Hi my DS need help for Chij paper q15, there were 350 children enrolled in the Eliot Drama Academy in 2009 . 2/7 of the children were girls . Additional children joined the drama academy in 2010. For every 2 girls who joined the drama academy , 1 boy joined the drama academy. If there were equal number of boys and girls in 2010 , how many joined the academy in that year?

                  Hi

                  Initially, Red : Blue = 2 : 3 = 8u : 12u
                  Sold = 9u (3/4 blue) + 1/2 Green = 1688 - 922 = 766
                  Left = 3u (1/4 blue) + 8u (Red) + 1/2 Green = 922

                  Left - Sold --> 2u = 922 - 766, 1u = 78

                  Blue Balloons, initially = 12u = 12 x 78 = 936

                  cheers.

                    Hi

                    Initially,
                    Blue marbles in A = 65% x 700 = 455
                    Red marbles in A = 700 - 455 = 245

                    Blue marbles in B = 75% x 480 = 360
                    Red marbles in B = 480 - 360 = 120

                    Total Red marbles = 245 + 120 = 365
                    Total Blue marbles = 455 + 360 = 815
                    Total marbles = 1180

                    After transfer:
                    A = # # # # #
                    B = @ @ @ @ @

                    # + @ = 1180 / 5 = 236

                    # + @ @ = 365
                    So,
                    @ = 365 - 236 = 129
                    # = 236 - 129 = 107

                    Jar B, after transfer = 5 x @ = 645

                    cheers.

                      Hi

                      In 2009,
                      Girls = 2/7 x350 = 100
                      Boys = 350 - 100 = 250

                      In 2010, Girls joined = 2u, Boys joined = 1u
                      Total girls = 2u + 100
                      Total boys = 1u + 250
                      So, 2u + 100 = 1u + 250
                      1u = 150

                      Number joined in 2010 = 3u = 3 x 150 = 450

                      cheers.
