It seems that Warren Buffett’s view about gold is quite often quoted.

To be fair to gold, I’ll like to mention the use of gold that is lesser known.

Gold as a good reflector for infra red radiation is often used as a coating for satellites to prevent heating up by the infra red radiation from the sun. I don’t think I need to regurgitate the importance of satellites.

The W8BEN form does not exempt S’poreans from 30% withholding tax on US dividends. But no tax on capital gains though.

Thanks for the clarification. Dividend is usually so insignificant and nobody cares.....I often receive a few 10s of dollars for some of the companies that invested in. It is usually very little after tax and commission from brokers that i don't bother. I'll rather the companies use the money for shares buyback than to distribute out dividend that is so so very little.

Not to mention there tiny amt of gold in our cellphones, TV too....

Sure, we know the 7 investment theories. One thing we aren't at the level of the experts, which precisely why we aren't into gold/silver yet less we are the handful of the last ones holding the ball....

Probably better to stick to what we understand best for the moment, as our wealth is :gloomy: now. Its better to be boring so that life can be interesting.

Though we might be tempted in future when we get there? 😓

Has anyone heard of or invested in Walton International Group? They are getting investors to invest in undeveloped land in Canada and USA.

Land Banking is unregulated, so it will be difficult to get your money back if you need it back. Remember Profitable plots?

Hi, what kind of due diligence have you done? Are you still holding any units with Walton now? And how do you monitor this investment? Thanks!

Be cautious. I am still holding on to this land which i bought from Walton 8 years ago. Have paid up in full, but don't see any hope of moving any further. If I can turn back the clock, i will DEFINITELY NOT buy into it.

Is there any loss in your capital after 8 yrs?
