Pre-school fees

So whats an averagely priced pre-school?
-
We had that consideration to send the child to kinderland S$430 per month or pat’s school house which cost around $1k+ per month.
Hubby asked me if I send her to pat’s schoolhouse, can I cut down on all the enrichment???
In the end, I came to a conclusion that I would continue to send my child to kinderland but at the same time, she attends enrichment classes that are taught by the subject matters expert (SME). Eg. maths - enopi, chinese - molin, english - lcentral (by native speakers). I would prefer SME rather than under 1 roof solution. -

Morning. Yes, agree. I had a misconception last time that kids from high end pre school will surely emerge way ahead in the primary school race. However, after journeying through the primary school system, I am surprised that it's not entirely the case. So hope to share with fellow KSPs not to fret if you can't afford high end pre school fees and not to spread your resources thin at such an early stage. :moneyflies:hi Snow Crystal,
dun worry ... no one will throw stones at you, because what you said is the truth.
I have friends and relatives working in the education sector. They said the same thing as you ... some parents think that by sending kids to high end very expensive premium pre-schools will give their children an early headstart. However it's not true. What you had said above was correct.
whether a child good or not later part of his education life depends on several other factors. One of the important one is the family upbringing home values that you teach your child everyday at home. -

Hi sorry not very in tune with current preschool market  Possibly ard $250-500. Do let me know if i am outdated. But definitely not >$1k per mth cos that is way above uni fees :yikes: :nailbite: of course it's relative to your financial status cos it may be small change for those who can afford :imcool:  -
this is a very interesting topic. i’ve noticed that some premium schools have increased their school fees annually by $100 to $200 per month. now it’s common to find schools that charge $1500 per month, and that’s not including the miscellaneous stuff you have to pay for. further, some charge exorbitant "registration fees" of $500. i often wonder if the quality of the teachers have improved at such rate to justify such a high increase.

Guess what… the boy who topped my dd’s class during P1 and P2 went to those PCF near his house and his family background is really humble eg. father is a bus driver.
With that, i feel that it’s not the pre-school that matters but rather, family support and child’s desire. -

$1.5k is an adult's salary! :yikes: if two kids $3k per mth :moneyflies:
But of course depends on whether this constitutes 0.5% or 50% of your salary. -

IMO
Every school is different, can’t just compare how much they charge. There are a lot of other factors to consider too. Ultimately, is whether we parents feel we are getting value for what we pay. -
im paying abt 300 for nursery level.after the working mother subsidy…
