Is Groupon a scam?

Staying away from Groupon too, although the previous order of vouchers are mostly alright, but the current order on canvas is a big headache. Have so much time spent on chasing for the few canvas which arrive way after the deadline which is supposed to sent.

Maybe you have had good service with groupon, thats good, but not me.

We bought the soup restaurant groupon over the weekends and fortunately the service is still as good. Perhaps going to the commonly known restaurants help?


I always see their offer from this and that restaurant. Some unheard of. So we usually don't buy those.

Yap I also buy those resturant/shop that I know of. Like recent Soup Resturant, Broaster Chicken and Hai Bin prawning.

So far so good, no problem at all.

I don't buy those Hair salon, photography and beauty salon as I feel they will have hard selling. Hence, don't want to take the risk.

I personally feel the service is depend on the shop and resturant itself not the groupon. So if the shop / resturant didn't give good service, than they will lose a return customer.

you haven’t tried Groupon? you’re missing out! I’ve bought tons of stuff on Groupon with no problems so far. The only incidents i’ve experienced are as follows:


1. Teeth Whitening - too many people buy, so could only make an appointment 1 month later. (i notice some pple said that the spa/salons try to hardsell, but this particular place gave me a free lifetime membership for future purchases and didn’t try to hardsell me. was a very pleasant experience although teeth whitening is alot more painful than you’d imagine)

2. Famous hotel chicken rice - also too many people buy, and i couldn’t make a reservation within the deadline. the hotel was nice enough to extend the deadline for an additional month.

3. Hotel stay - upon registration at the counter, they told me they were oversold that day. Which was a blessing in disguise because they upgraded me to a family suite with a sea view.

My advice, get a Groupon account now!!!

there is a barcode serial number on right hand top when you print out the paper.

Not scam. Had very good experience especially for the restaurant deals.Got a groupon for Anar, a middle eastern restaurant and paid only 50% of the listed price… Only ever got one hair salon deal. It was good too. highly recommended!

Bought this voucher for Japanese Shabu lunch buffet. I called them last week to make reservation. Guess what? They were fully booked for all the weekends to July! @#&@#&


Who on earth will make a lunch reservation three months in advance. I'm very sure the restaurant refuses to honour what they have promised in the voucher.

The worst is that they only allow walk-in after 2.30pm. Hello! That is High tea not lunch leh@#&@#&

Futhermore, no waiting list. :mad: I have made a complaint via groupon customer service no on 31/3/12. And they did not get back to me. :mad:

Never tried before. But they can easily traced them under your account. But will they charge you extra under promo prices or regular prices?

oppsgal, how did u complaint abt ue canvas photo that’s late? yest i went to collect mine, it’s definitely not canvas, thin wood, paper !!! worst than my DD’s canvas arts !! i also can print this type of picture !! no canvas !! and the one i collected is the last photo that i sent, i really dunno what happen to the 2 earlier photos that i sent ! until to day, groupon no reply… $25 for such a thin wood paper frame, really super X ! never never buy their canvas photos !!
