Referring to both books by Grace Sim?
Yesbestwishes:
Thanks bestwishes. Will look through the book in popular.

Think the on sponge math book is more similar to GLM Extensive Tutorials & Revisions Mathematics -- more thematic and many topics cannt be done by next yr p6 kids during this Dec holidays.

Almost all qns, if not all, in The GLM effective problem solving p5/6 maths book can be done this Dec as long as kids have learnt the basics of frac, ratio and % in p5.

I like Onsponge assessment book for its comprehensive and systematic coverage of the problem-solving strategies. Can order the book online from its website. For students who are relatively weak in Paper 2, this is a helpful resource. Some of the questions have been picked by school test setters and replicated in CA/SA papers. I’ve also seen my DS’s classmate’s Onsponge tuition worksheets: rigorous, well-written and pitched at a relatively high standard. However, these worksheets can’t be purchased and are only available through their tuition class.

Same here. Both Ds got it through only their tuition classes -

Paper 2 is a lot more challenging, comprises of a variety of problem sums across various topics; high frequency ones include whole numbers, ratio, percentage, fractions, speed (P6), geometry, area. This paper allows the use of calculators. Test duration is 1 hour 45 minutes. Both papers are tested on the same day, before and after recess.phtthp:

Most kids, if careful, score pretty well in Paper 1 but the difficulty level in Paper 2 may stumble some, if they have not been exposed to the problem sums and have sufficient practice with the strategies of solving them. If they do not ace Paper 2, no way can score A-stars, as some of the questions are 4 or 5 marks each.
Sometimes, the school teachers' teaching and even the workbooks used in class do not support the difficulty level of the exams :slapshead: Hence we parents have to do quite a bit of home support (assessment books and test papers) or outsource for tuition.
