iPhone users will attest to this : once started on iPhone, there is no looking back

actually, that is not true. Quite a few iPhone users have switched over to Android. The more technically inclined you are, the more likely you will switch.

I asked one for the reason, and it's simply :'too many iphone users'!
that I can agree. I've seen uncles, aunties, policeman, traffic cop, hawkers, fruit sellers, etc.. all using iPhone. Singapore seems to have an affluent population. I guess it's partly the hype, the brand name that attracts people. Apple has done a pretty good brand marketing job.

From a purely technical perspective, the iPhone is a better phone than the Android phone simply because both hardware and software were designed by Apple. As such, it just works out of the box. With both hardware and software designed and developed by the same company, there is better integration between hardware and software. The Android phone is pretty fragmented, in that the OS is developed by Google, while the hardware comes from various manufacturers. This leads to some instability and performance issues where the hardware is not fully optimized because the phone vendors do not have the necessary firmware expertise to do so.

The Samsung Galaxy S (first version) is well known for slow performance when the number of installed apps goes beyond a certain number.

Apple apps are better and more stable. It depends on what u need ur device to do and ur lifestyle needs. I did try android. I was disappointed, it gave me so much problems and the Apps were not the type I wanted. Maybe I had a lemon where device was concern, but now am back to Apple.

yes, that is true. The reason for the apps' stability is that the developers only have to support one platform, the iPhone, while the Android developers have to support multiple platforms, ie. Motorola android phones, HTC android phones, Samsung android phones, etc.... So inevitably, stability issues arises when some hardware quirks occurs for a certain manufacturer's phone, which was not forseen and tested during the app development time. This is the bane of android ecosystem, the hardware fragmentation.

I like the apple apps but can’t type on the iPhone no matter how hard I try (maybe my fingers are too fat). So I use the iPad for the apps. Blackberry is still my main phone due to the keyboard and bb messenger. I also carry a galaxy s1 for android apps. Somehow I find it’s easier to type on it than iPhone although both have touch screens.

for typing on your android smartphone, try Swype. You should have it on your Galaxy S. It's a new way of \"typing\". Instead of pressing on a letter, you slide your finger over the letter and the app recognizes that the letter has been entered.

Actually i like my old nokia phone alot and it is much easier to use eg speed dialing and sms.

However I reckoned that if I did not get a smart phone, I will become a laid back person.
Just before I got my phone, I did not have any inkling of what WhatsApp, Market, etc was.....in fact i did not even know the difference among all the smart phones.....now i am slowly learning.
