I am going to employ a full time aid for the first time. In addition to her monthly salary and meals, what other expenses should I expect to incur? Am I responsible for buying her clothes?

Not really. But I do let the maid have daily necessities like toiletries, shampoo, soap etc. Occasional slippers, clothes etc… All these are "extras", depends on how much you like her work i guess.

            Hi

the maid salary is about $400 TO $450 with 1 day off for some.
you need to pay 8months upfront placement fee which is about $3200
            agency fee.
you need to cover her medical bill. Dental bill is optional but most of the employee will pay for them.
6 monthly check up is about $25
tranport and meal when she goes out with you.
expect your PUB bill to be higher.
Some damage cost to your flooring & etc.(my maid damaged my 3 bedrooms timber floor)

1DO ask your maid if she has Egg or CHIcKEN allergy becos the alternative protein diet is going to be expensive for you.

2.also check for dental cavities by bringing a torch along.
3.6 monthly med check up is not just $25, will b more the longer maid stays ,maybe every 2.5 years have additional HIV test n maybe every 4th year additional CXR for t.b.

Hope to get advice on this above.

Recently I have contacted an agency for a maid and the boss quoted me a fee of $688 and free replacement. As I find the maid is quite ok, I told him that I am willing to pay $488 without replacement and he agreed.

Now I am thinking, if my maid wish to leave within 8 months, what will happen to my 8 months upfront fee that were paid to the agent? Btw, I will be going down to his office in mid January so we actually haven't discussed anything in detail yet.

                Thanks in advance.

What do you mean when you say you find the maid quite okay? She's not with you yet, and you already know she's ok??? :xedfingers:

hmmm,,,I think I can only base on her photo, her relevant experience and a long distance call 😉

Below extracted from under 'Run away maid' in this forum:

\"Yr problem maid has to be replaced by yr agency as most agencies offer free replacement. Most agencies will shake legs and not help find missing maids. They take ages to give you replacement. Some eat 50% of your pre-paid loan. Nicer ones will channel the money to the new replacement. Agencies will stop u from making police reports and persuade u to find maid, return to them Iso that they can recycle such a s s holes by sponging on other unlucky employer).\"

The above more or less answered my question. I will ask the agent to state in the contract that he will refund me if the maid didn't at least fulfill the pre-paid loan period. Has anyone requested this before?

I do not want free replacement as I want the freedom to choose another maid from another agency. Also, the agent may take his own sweet time to find a replacement or he doesn't have a suitable maid to meet my needs.
