I don’t have the actual statistics and not really sure how the boys’ results differ from girls. 85% is derived after my girl told me that for her group of classmates (all girls), most of them tend to clutter around 85% +/-
Thanks! This benchmark should apply to the same cohort in all GEP schools, right? Given they take the same papers.lee_yl\" post_id=\"2002106\" time=\"1604978966\" user_id=\"17023:
If can maintain an overall of 85%, that would be good. Anything above 85% should be considered as above average.

Any of the current GEP kids have problem coping with English. How do you help them? I foresee my kid having issues with English once he joins the programme.

Hi existing GEP parents,
My daughter has been offered to do GEP, I have been trying to digest the news over the weekend as it came totally unexpected. While she has been going for English and Math enrichment, it was not my intention to prepare her for the GEP screening/selection tests.
I have read up on the GEP program but still confused on the key project works that they need to do over the next 3 years, therefore would appreciate your advice.
In P4, this is a transition year so no project work but focus on developing the inquiry skills? Any example what will be done?
In P5, focus on the ISO project - it can IRS or IvP or school based projects. This is the one major project that they need to focus and complete over 8-10 months. Is my understanding correct?
Social studies - This will be a graded subject in GEP but not examinable in PSLE. Correct?
Exam preparation- Unlike MS where past years exam papers and assessment books are easily available, how do you support your child in their exam preparation?
I suppose the parents will have no access to those past years P4/P5 GEP exam papers that were set by MOE.
For P6 exam, they will doing school based exam as per MS students right?
Appreciate any info/advice from existing GEP parents. Thank you in advance. -

I remembered i hadda buy p6 assessment books for mine to practise when he was in P4/P5. You know in popular they grade the assessment books by level of difficulty. You need to get the most challenging ones. Especially helpful would be those that goes by topics, then you can zoom in to the relevant topics.

I think they are still doing gep common tests for mid yr. The drilling for psle only starts apr/may where they do past yrs psle papers. -
Is it true that all children made it to GEP program attended enrichment classes one way or another?
1. attended English, Math tuition classes?
2. attended Olympiad classes?
3. attended GEP preparation program be it private tutor or institution?
4. attended GEP camp?
Is it possible that an ordinary child who had never been exposed to the above specific trainings and tuitions eventually being selected for the program?
Is it possible that a child being selected for GEP program, if he or she had never attended any tuition classes (even for the mainstream syllabus). Are there any success cases out there especially the child is a self learning child with basic parents guidance since P1 to P3 (the child read widely) but never attended any tuition in his /her life?
Parents with GEP children feedback are much appreciated. thank you! -

And not only they were in GEP programme, 2 of them have sibling who were in GEP programme as well. Three of them have big families so tuition were not possible.
Their PSLE scores were between 255 and 271. Nothing stellar but still managed to get into good secondary schools. (Some through DSA) -

Having said that, most students (70% to 80%) do have tuition for at least one subject. Chinese being the most common.
