my dd isn’t a math/science person too; unlike her parents.

Nevertheless, yes, it is your dd studying and have to drill into her to think carefully before making any decision. As we grow old, there are impacts on the decisions we make, unlike when we were young.

To me, it is up to the child to decide whether JC or Poly. At the age of 16, he/she can make the decision. Going to Poly doesn’t mean no hope to go U.

Is your princess keen in Early Childhood Education? A colleague’s daughter entered via PFP to poly and on a scholarship doing such course.

I don't know what's in her head now. the brain is floating somewhere. I let her float for a few days more before bringing down to earth to make her think for her future :spank:
my former neighbour's daughter got into NP to do early childhood.
there are 3 NA classes. as she is exempted from MT, the first NA class offers only 5 subjects which is too risky. the next 2 classes would have 7 subjects (for her, it will be 6) but there will be E math offered at O level as well as compulsory POA and A Math.
earlier a teacher asked her to consider going to the class which offers E math at O levels...she turned it down because she didn't want to take A math as well as POA. hubby and I couldn't do anything because she will be the one studying 🤷 she is not a Math/Science person.

She can still take E Maths at O level when she goes to Sec 5. In fact, with the extra year to work at N level Maths, she may do better in the end. If she has to take A maths now, she will probably struggle so much that everything else will suffer. I think her choice is a good one.

          starlight/slmkhoo,

we have agreed that she takes POA in place of her MT…meaning she has 6 subjects.
she isn’t a math/science person but if she wants to do well for math, she can.

this girl is gungho compared to her brother. academically, she is slower than her brother…but I don’t allow her to use it as an excuse to slack.

Hi. I think that both JC and Poly has its advantages.

You need to decide for yourself how you best study and how you best learn.
JC is more suited for academia while Poly is more suited for hands on learners.

Understand that once enter Poly it is very difficult to enter Local University? As going JC, the government cater more quota intake?

For IP students drop-out, although without any O-level certificate, they can still apply to various Polytechnic, using their "End-of-Year 4" results.

IP schools like (RI / RGS, Dunman High, National Junior College) use GPA scoring system, to grade Year 4 students.

Anyone know, for Year 4 IP students who wish to exit to the Polytechnic, what is the Year 4 (IP) GPA score requirement, to enter following Polytechnic -

                      - Diploma in Accountancy,
                      - Diploma in Applied Chemistry,
                      - Diploma in Biomedical Engineering
                      - Diploma in Mechanical Engineering ?

what if the child can’t continue in IP in year 2?
