Yes there will be those who regret their choices. Be it Poly or JC. Thing is for kid who do not know what they want, oft times they realise what they do not want only when the embark on it.

Cousin's son went to poly, by the end of year 2 he decided the course he was taking was not really what he wanted, so he switched to another course in poly completed that then went to uni and completed that though he say felt it was a waste of time. Joined a company that all along he thought was what he wanted only to realise it is not what he envisioned. 🤷
The era that the post millennium kids born in, especially

      AFTER the year 2000,
Is very vastly different from that era in the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s that we were born in.

Nowadays, when u look for future career, need to ask yourself :-

      Will AI (Artificial Intelligence)

      make me redundant one day,
take over my job scope, going forward, into the future ?

You study, study in university faculty is one thing. But there are certain things, beyond our control

Another one that is quite safe is allied healthcare. Due to our aging population, hospitals will only get busier. Allied healthcare staff (speech therapist, psychotherapist etc.) will not be out of a job!!

Perhaps for other students, who are doing the same identical \"IT cum AI\" course inside the Polytechnic, the students are happy because it is truly what they desire for. So, this is the correct, right course for them.

          But for my friend's son,
it is the wrong course for him, because he just choose a Poly course, based on consulting his ex Sec 4 fellow classmates + school mates,

\"what is the in thing trend now, that companies are hiring, inside the market place ? \" is wrong.

Part of the reason why my friend's son took \"AI\" course
          was because

for his Youth generation (born after 2005, onwards),

          he worried that

          one day,
AI may take away some of our current traditional jobs or job scope.

Thank you, for your time spent, in reading.

          IT : Information Technology

          AI : Artificial Intelligence
agree, but not anybody can do AI - writing prog/Algorithm to automate machine learning, machine takes over human job. Iphone Siri is a simple example, now we have such smart system in cars too (Tesla!)

so did your fren son transfer to another course? if one does not have the interest & potential in AI/IT , i feel it can be very miserable. such course are not like academic math /sci subject where the student can practise sums and do assessment books / tys daily to improve 😛

Try to go for their open house tmr. Their location quite central and personally i think their light blue uniform (dark blue polo) is quite nice. That’s all i know. Supposedly stronger in Arts than Sci.
