On the other hand, many young officers would like to leave after 5years because they can no longer tahan the onerous rules and regulations and they worry that they may not have the relevant skill sets to go back to the private sector if they stay too long.
this is one of my concerns too.
a friend's hubby left after 10 years in Mindef because he felt the job was stagnant. he left for the private sector.

this year, there is an increased number of students going to poly....i believe it is due to dragon year batch.
my concern - increased number of dragon year kids entering poly, will there be increased number of vacancies in local U too?

Local U don't adjust vacancies due to dragon year as guys / gals intake are different.

              because of NS?

                Partly.
And Poly cohort joining local U (20% of U intake) are also of a different age to students coming from JC.

Hence, adjustments to intake is based more on their assessment on the labor market needs in 3/5/10 years time.

The poly route is very good for those who might be struggling with their 2nd language. Some of my kids’ friends went to the polys for that reason, and they all met up again when they went to the local universities

my son struggled with MT and GP during the 2 weeks in MI.

it's exactly 2 weeks since he started he started poly on 17/4...he is tired on most of the days as the students work on their laptops a great deal of time. he missed the bus stop yesterday as he fell asleep on the bus. fortunately he didn't land up at the terminal. but importantly, he enjoys the course.

Actually, it does not matter if my children go to JC or poly. What is important is they are able to thrive in the new environment.
