Talking about the 38 fu nu jie - When someone mentioned it to me yesterday I was asking her why did they call us women san ba? :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:
LOL IKR. On the radio this morning in the car, the DJ went like
\"今天是3月8号2012年。农历2月16号。那么,今天也是山芭妇女节\" and I was like : :scared:
The English name sounds much nicer - International Women's Day!
Btw, cos my Mandarin isn't good, what exactly does \"san ba\" mean?
I dun mean the date, but the seemingly negative meaning. -
Ichigokun:
Don't spend too much time on ksp.jtoh:
So have all your Sec 1 kids settled nicely into their secondary school regime. Are they terribly busy or still keeping sane hours?
I'm much busier than in primary school
but still got time to ksp XD
Go out and get some fresh air.
How are you coping with your school work and CCA? -
Ichigokun:
Oh yeah! I have noticed that you're very active in KSP indeed!jtoh:

You have even put a foot into the maid issue. -

jtoh:
Direct translation from Hokkien would be \"mountain tortoise\"?
Unrefined, from the village... that kind of connotation if I'm not mistaken.
If that's so, the name must change with the times!
Where are all the feminists?
How come no one is protesting to the name?
Hmmm...The person who came up with the Chinese name must be a man! -
Hi everyone,
Hope you and your ds/dd are coping well with Sec 1.
We are still trying to get used to the longer hours.
Wish everyone a very happy one week holiday in advance. -
MummySTay:
Mountain tortoise in Hokkien (Singaporean), adapted from Teochew I thought is swakoo?

Sanba just means poor village. The theme of this year's Intl Women's day is poor village women rights, I heard it on the radio this morning -
MummySTay:
Aiyo... No wonder my ears so itchy yesterday... Someone was calling my name...Hello!
How has everyone been?
It's been a while since we come here and chat!
Come to think of it, we have survived one whole term! Yay!!!
DD has been very busy with her CCAs so she is barely home before 6pm.
That's why I am so glad it's learning journey week this week...
I could actually spend some quality time with DD.
Do keep us updated on your DS/DD's progress in sec 1.
And let's continue to support one another in our children's educational journey! :snuggles:
Btw, Happy \"firefly38\"妇女节to all the Mummies!
But my 38 does not mean 山芭 or SamPat hor... It literally means 三八... Not 三月八日, but 八月三日, my birthday... :boogie: :boogie: -
Hahaha...hello, firefly!
Good that you clarify...
Some of us have been wondering what your 38 stands for.
How's your DS doing in RI?
Enjoying his CCA?
My friend, whose DS is also in RI, is feeling pretty stressed.
Apparently, the boy failed an EL and a Math test.
Very kancheong...wondering if she should look for tutors for him. -
For a moment there I thought your birthday was yesterday.
