Parental control tool for child web surfing
-
In singapore, they do conduct cyber wellness workshops in school as my son had attended one during a school assembly. However, workshops for parents are few unless the initiation is pretty strong in the school and the psg (parent support groups) made a point to organise one.
i have called the organisers for the cyber wellness conference and was informed that there is a discount if there is a registeration for more than 10 people.
If anyone is keen, please PM me as I will be attending with a friend and hope to rope in others for the discount as well. -
Hi All,
Any advise how to monitor & control internet usage for kids? Able to install some filter program to check which website they had went to? The most worried is that they go online chat with strangers & all informations being reveal out.

check out symantic software. They have quite a pretty good software that allow you to regulate access (duration; when; where) and if your child wants to “emergency” by-pass (duration & when) still can but need to key in reason which you will be able to review later.

hi, i'm fulltime working mom (single). I would like to share-share my experience here. My boy (P5) is on his own @ home since P4, i install the Norton software & BLOCKED him from gaining access to any website except yahoo. Weekends UN-BLOCKED, so far so good. :celebrate:Hi All,

AC, wouldn't you allow your DS to visit here. We have lots of nice people around and some of the members are students as well. Maybe he can pick up some kiasu syndrome

Let me be the BAD guy ...
Did you block yahoo image & video search ?
- try this, go to http://www.yahoo.com.sg & search for 'sexy' and click on \"image\" icon above the bar where you enter the search text. -
Exactly. Yahoo is a search engine, you can have access to many many unsuitable things through Yahoo. You should also set the filter on for the search engine at ‘safe’.

Yeah, I agree with what the previous posters say.
Perhaps you could get Norton Internet Security and set the Parental Control filter to the highest possible setting?
That would block out almost any website with even a hint of bad content. -
Allow me to share my experience.
I had blocked my internet connection for quite sometimes but one day I found out that he could access youtube with xxx cat in starwars theme. I was very mad at him. But finally I did realized that my DS had grown up. I could not keep him under my supervision at all time. So I decided to start sharing with him about almost everything including sex education.
So I think sometimes it is useless that we use any Parental Control if we could not to check on them regularly. Because, they could easily cracked(is it true?) My DS said there are tutorials in you tube about cracking.
Now, it's been months and he is very honest about everything. What he was doing in school with his friends, the subjects they talked, the website that his friend would suggest, even ...... the girls that like (love) him. He show me the love letters from the girls... :? I could not understand this part They are still in pri 4. Thinking of transferring DS to another school
