During the parents’ briefing at my DD school, her English teacher brought up the topic of proper handwriting. DD told me a few days earlier that she was penalised for bad handwriting as she wrote her "w" like a "u". I told DD that it is lucky that she was told early as this is only the beginning of the school year. She has the time to improve and learn to write properly.

Glad to say, her handwriting has improved greatly and she is cautious now on how each letter looks like.

Please remind all your kids to write properly as marks will be lost if the marker is not able to tell if the letter is a "U" or "w".

Hope the above reminder is useful.

Thanks for sharing. I am going to show dd your post. Last night, dh & I were to mad with dd as we went through with her the EL CA paper she did. What upset us was her handwriting! It was in all honesty neat handwriting but the alphabets are so close together that we could hardly tell the difference be a M & a N. Her h & n also not much of a difference!! Sometimes, in order to save time, the kids write them close & small. I told dd, marks are not given for best or nice hand writing but are given for clear handwriting with correct answers. I imagine myself as a teacher marking one stack of how many hundred papers during exams & encounter such handwriting 😓 !!!
