      Yes. Really.

No more tuition. Just consult teachers if not clear. Teachers will meet them one on one or in group, and also via email
So nice to know that ! :rahrah: 🕺

most of the time – the kids just need to do their part - ask question if don’t understand, teachers will explain

if they don’t ask teacher, nobody knows if the kids don’t understand what has been taught, and then go home tell mommy they don’t know what the teacher taught, and then mommy say "oh, poor thing", and start looking for tuition teacher … and then come to ksp forum and say such school such teacher don’t teach … all that is needed is to start asking question to the teachers, and pay attention in class

if the kids don’t pay attention and dare not ask question and pretend to understand … and sheepishly go home … that is a different story

parents must empower and encourage their kids to ask question

Asking questions is something I remind my kids to do in school. Don't know, please ask. Don't ask means understand and if get it wrong means scolding. Do not assume.
Mummy gives teacher the go ahead to scold.

I believe in working with my kids’ teachers. They can advise how parents can help on the home front. Tutors are supposed to guide…that’s what i feel. But at P6, the teachers cannot go into detail to teach all 40 kids. Not every child can grasp a concept in one or 2 explanations. So, my tutors’ role is somewhat different this year.

Come Sec 1, there are 9 or 10 subjects. How to get him tuition for all subjects ? Not possible. I am not aiming for the top sec school…have to be realistic.

Parents have to remind kids to ask when in doubt. Asking is never wrong.

I would like to know if teachers in secondary schools teach...or leave it to tutors. Our kids are facing extreme pressure in P6 this year. Come Sec 1, supposing they manage to get into good sec schools, do present tutors follow up ?

                    the teachers teach

                    no more tuition

                    Yup, no tuition for majority.
Have to depend on self learning (anyway, u dont even have time for tuition).
For some who are poorer in HCL, would probably continue with their tutors.

Sec sch teachers are so much different fr pri sch teachers, as they REALLY teach,
Not juz flashing answers on the screen. 😉
and if need to clarify doubts, juz make arrangements for consultations,
most, if not all are willing to do so....... 😄

But I read somewhere recently, an ip student (I think) said in order to get to maintain good grades, ip students must turn to tutors.

                      Any1 came across this ?

Not true. I have a lot of classmates depending on themselves for their grades. Other than maybe Chinese usually most of them don't have any tuition.

I agree that there's no time for tuition anyway  The fact that i'm still online at this hour kind of proves it. (i'm trying to watch this video for class)

But i also have to say not all sec sch teachers teach. At least mine don't. They teach, but briefly, so it's up to you to find out the really in-depth things, make your own notes, find last year's papers...etc. But they will be willing to answer your questions(if you find your own qns in the first place!)and open up consultations too:) However, this depends on the school.

In a way that's better than being spoon-fed every answer, i think. Gives you more space to explore and find out about things yourself, instead of providing everything all the time 😄

Sec sch is very different from primary school.
