Secondary School Selection 2012
-
Bonnie:
Just make it simple, its just like booking a HDB flat. Everyone has a queue no. When it is your turn, you will be serve. If your 1st choice still has places, then you will be given a place. Else you will be asked for your next choice(2nd) and so on.How does the MOE computer selection work? it mean that my chance gets slimmer as it goes down the 6 choices. Meaning if I select a school X and put 3rd choice, my chance is reduced cos School X is someone else's first choice?
Does it work that way? Would appreciate some kind soul advice as that would affect the ranking of my choices
Thanks -

Don't put Bedok View or Pasir Ris as one of your choices. If you want to try Nan Chiau, put it as your first choice. You can only appeal for your first choice school. It is good to put your child in a competitive environment so that she can be stretch further academically. My dd scored 232+2. My 1st 3 choices would be as follows:
1. Ngee Ann Sec (COP: 233) May not make it. But if can, would it matters if my dd is in the last of the cohort? What's at stake? 5min walk from where we stay.
2. Dunman Sec (COP:229)
3. Temasek Sec (COP: 230)
4.
5.
6.
For the remaining choices, we're contemplating on the below few schools in the East. They're:
Hai Sing Catholic (COP: 225) No clue on this school. Any comments? Affiliated to Catholic JC.
Bedok View (COP: 217) Will be in top of cohort.
St. Hilda's (COP: 228) No clue on this school. Any comments?
Pasir Ris (COP: 221) DD teacher's told them \"better not choose\" :?
Nan Chiau High (COP: 236) SAP school. Risky, still out by 2pts after +2 in HCL.
We hope to hear more comments and recommendations on the above schools' choices before firming the final 6s.
:thankyou: -

Not true for all schools. you may appeal to any school and more than one school. But, some school will require you to indicate your 6 choices at the point of appealing.

Does anyone know anything about CHIJ St Joseph ? -

Both are good schools. For me, I will place 1. Cedar and 2. St Nick. The reason being I will do my JC in VJC.Hi! I am a 12 year old girl. Scored 241+2. I want 2 try to get in Cedar or St Nicks.

But do consider their distance from your home. Importantly, you have to consider your last 4 choices carefully as cedar (-8 pts) and St Nick (-6) might seem a bit difficult to get in unless you have something to backup. -
I see, which means that I can put in a schools that have COP more than 225 in the first two choices, then followed by a school of 225 COP in the 3rd choice, his chance will not be affected, right? His chance will still be exactly the same as if he had put the 225 school in the first choice?
AM I right? -

The 6 choices of the school will be as follow:777:
My daughter score 238 + 1 . Any chance of getting into Nan Hua (COP 243 last year) if I appeal for her?
Miss by 4 pts (2011 COP:243), do you have anything to back you up. e.g. performing arts or sports. You may want to go down to the school and talk to the P/VP abt your chances.
1. Nan hua
2. Bukit pangjang
3. Commonwealth
4. Swiss cottage
5. Clementi town
6. Crescent girl
Advise pls -

Your chance of getting into Cedar & St Nick is low. Make sure your next few choices are within 235 to 240. Can consider Nan Chiau, Anglican, Anderson & Chung Cheng.
