hi,hi everyone,
Need some advise on my situation, if I am staying within 1km to Bedok West Primary and Damai Primary but 1-2km to Yu Neng and Red Swastika. What would be your likely choice of school? suggestions appreciated.
if i am you, i can totally forget about Red Swastika(ballot at Phase 2C is for SC within 1 km @2012) and Yu Neng(ballot at Phase 2C is for SC within 1km @2012).
So left with Bedok West and Damai Primary. Firstly need to find out on these school more and what are they stong in.
and make my choice within these two school, since within 1 km it is also better for the kids when comes to travelling to school. -
hi weyw,

does anyone know the track record of these 2 schools? -
I’m staying less than 1km from Yu Neng and I can forget abt applying for this sch since there r so many flat surrounding the sch.

Is this the only school that is less than 1 km from your house? Have you checked the balloting history of other schools near your house?
In the absence of other options, other parents who are also within 1 km from the school will thank you for not even applying because you have increased their children's chance of getting into the school. -

Can anyone give their inputs on which school is Bette? St Stephens or TKPS? In terms of both character development and preparing for PSLE.
I have a boy registering in p1 this year. My son is a bit shy type so I first thot an all boys school may not be suitable…
But hear that at Stephens standard has gone up recently due that one single boy!
Also perhaps balloting will be tougher for this year.
Thanks so much for all ur thots!! -

I am not familiar with St Stephen All boys' school nor Tanjong Katong primary co-ed school. Can anyone give their inputs on which school is Better?
St Stephens or TKPS?
In terms of both character development and preparing for PSLE.
But if you refer to “ Ranking by academic excellence (done by KSP)”, based on the stated criteria, St Stephen is ahead of Tanjong Katong primary.
(have an idea)
78. St Stephen
104. Tanjong Katong primary

St Stephen -
Being a mission school, very early in the morning - the school conduct chapel class that teach young children what is - love, kindness, patience, compassion for the poor, for the lost, for the needy, integrity, consideration for others, other important character values from young. If you are open to allow your son attend, will be good for him. The parents in this school are caring enough to meet together often for prayers on a regular basis, to pray for their children in their development milestones, to pray for the school. You are welcome to join them.
In life, eq and character values are far more important than academic Grades or iq. When a child grows up to work in society, he will be relating to many co-workers at work:- his boss, his peer colleagues, his external colleagues like vendors, etc.
St Stephen is also affliated to a secondary school.
However, being an all boys school and they are young kids, they might be rough sometimes.
I detect a sense of academic concern in you.
Perhaps you can write in to both schools, request for Psle quality passes (a/a*) in the 4 subjects for past 2 years, then do a comparison yourself. After write in and they do not respond within 3 working days, call them. Ask to speak to the vp or the principal.
