can anyone just \"suka suka\" demand for compensation and expect the authorities to just act based on netizens' demand for compensation?
believe there is no issue with the need to compensate - if the liability has been established - but it has to be done through legal channel and due process. singapore is a rule based and law abiding country
if any authority can just act based on netizens' demand, what makes singapore different from other mafia countries ?
hate to say this - but - who knows - Ma Chi may not be at fault ? it could be the Ferrari that has malfunctioned and the driver could not control it - just like the famous Lexus crash in US - lost speed control -- that caused Toyota to recall millions of vehicles worldwide in recent years ?
without establishing the truth, it is dangerous to start demanding ...... even though prima facie the Ferrari crashed into the taxi .......
just like a plane crash - not every time is a malfunction or a pilot suicide .... until the truth is established ....
Without pre-judging, I think the overwhelming likelihood is that this Ferrari chap is culpable. Even so, due process must be followed. Is there outrage against this fellow's actions and subsequent insensitivity of his relatives? Of
course! But how does that suddenly translate in seizing assets and expelling the family??
I mean, c'mon, we are not the wild wild west with vigilantes roaming the countryside.
Its seems like every single thread turns into g'ment or foreigner bashing eventually.....even in a benign forum like KSP.
Well said vk2010 and 3boys :goodpost:
-
Ferrari driver was speeding. 140km/h based on an expert’s calculation.

Ma Chi may not be at fault ??? :?
Where is JUSTICE ?
Ferrari crash:
Physics teacher calculates that sports car was speeding at140km/h,
when it crash into Mr Cheng's taxi

At the speed the Ferrari was going, on the impact I really don't think airbag would have saved the taxi driver. Nonetheless I agree taxis should be installed in all taxis... Though there have been instances where airbags coz suffocation when the victims passed out on it or victims sustained bruises (& sometimes broken noses) to their faces due to the pressure from deployment of airbag. -

Nobody said he is definitely not at fault. We are saying we do not dispense jungle justice. Due process must be followed, if we lose sight of that we are finished as a society.Ma Chi may not be at fault ??? :?

We are Singaporeans, we do not allow the execrable actions of a spoilt PRC brat tear at how we conduct ourselves, which is at the core of what other people find good and strong about our country and people. -

Vk2010 is not saying dat 马驰 is not at fault,
but he is not guilty till proven so.
d thrust of his argument is to let due process takes its legal course.
Sidenote: dis felali 599 GTO can kick start fr 0 – 100 km/h in under 3.5 sec,
n accelerate to 200 km/h in ~ 11 s. With a flying machine like dat,
d brake system has to be very effective n efficient – n it is.
According to specs, dis car can decelerate from 100 km/h to a complete stop in under 32.5 m.
d car-driver interface was derived fr its racing model n designed
“to maximize the car performance and allow the driver to constantly and easily keep under control the car status and driving behavior.” http://ferraribeverlyhills.beeplog.com/blog.pl?blogid=175406&from=5&categoryid=233766
IMV, therefore very remote chance of a total mechanical/electronics failure – likely human error.
Having said dat, whatever our opinions, it’s prudent to follow due process in establishing d facts n let d law takes its proper course.
Though I may add dat I wld like to think dat d public outcry has helped nudged d Chinese embassy n gahmen into issuing public statements in recent days, n hopefully hasten dis due process to a fast n proper conclusion. -

At dat kind of estimated speed on impact n being hit broadside,Oppsgal:

I daresay d airbag is pretty much useless. -

NO.. it must be initiated by the taxi driver's family.can anyone just \"suka suka\" demand for compensation and expect the authorities to just act based on netizens' demand for compensation?
If they initiated it, than the govt should provide some form of legal assistance.
