Yup, yup, that's how I feel. It's not garden of Eden but it's safe enough. I can drive home with just a little child back to my neighborhood which is poorly lit and very quiet at night. My hubby travels a lot for work, so safety in the neighbourhood is very impt for me.In other countries you can get mobbed (robbed) in daylight because you are the miniority race.
No matter how sandwiched we are, we are still safe even staying in public housing - HBD...
In short, I stand with those on the be contended lines. Don't sweat the small stuff.
My child sure got a place to study in public school. Things are getting more expensive but at least we don't need to eat only dried tofu (Tempe?) all the time. And I am always thankful being a Chinese in sg , rather than our neighbouring countries. But that's me the mediocre talking la. -

[quote=\"Imami\"]Hahaha I see! I always thought u r telling yourself to \"beContented\"!
I cant say I am happy with everything. But certainly I make do with the situation. I try to Improve things or stretch myself to cope. I don't know - what else can I ask for, given that I am so average but I have
- a happy, healthy and lovely child who thinks I am omnipotent and loves me unconditionally
- a hubby who is doing well in his job and provides financial stability so that I can hold a less stressful job (but with lesser pay) and do more for the family and be an active part of my child's growing up (it's a privilege to be a child's growing up in my opinion. Not everyone has this opportunity, not everyone values this opportunity).

if you have a chance, move else where and stay for a while and you will get what I mean.
over here, Singaporeans are mostly very tolerant of immigrants… no matter how u say indian curry stinks, chinese very rude, but we will still co-exist with them.
i think the point of discontention is just that cars are expensive and HBD costs a bomb. LOL. and not generally hating to stay here. if cars and houses are cheap then i think the whole world would wanna move here.
no comments on car and house issues. just make lemonade out of the lemons. stay in HBD 3 room flat and take MRT. i don’t own a car anyway. i just take taxis when the need arises for a car. yeah I know pay through the nose but its better than buying ridiculous priced car. -
Overcrowded. Too many people and hardly enough place to walk. Narrow walkways. Bicycles, motorcycles keep zooming around on walkways meant for people to walk.
Not enough rules enforcement. People park their motorbikes everywhere. Smokers smoke in lifts. People feeding strays everywhere and no cleaning up.
Litter of rice thrown out of windows to feed birds. Banners place all over the places to warn people not to litter, not to ride bicycles. Yet, always see people doing so. So why waste money make all those banners for?
MRT overcrowded, so far what are the solutions?
Most of the times, when I call hotline for customer services, I hardly understand what the other parties are talking about due to the accent. Maybe my spoken English is that bad until they don't understand me enough.
I don't know what to say about quality of services level here... Neighbour's letter landed in our mailbox. Once awhile, our letters gone to someone else mail box. What happens if is Private and confidential?
Saw someone's parcel online:

Currently, have to even collect bulky items personally from post office if miss out first delivery.

I also find that the childcare centres teaching slow... even though only teaching 2 languages.
Housing also expensive.
Just my grumbling thoughts. -

Shouldn't say \"hate\", more like disappointed or unhappy about.Sometimes I dun understand. Why such strong words 'hate'? Dislike perhaps. Hate? My P5 DD started uttering such words after she transferred to a 'better' Sch. Yeah, kids there are more vocal, demanding, selfish. Anyway I stopped her from using such strong words unnecessarily.
Maybe I have yet to feel the full impact, maybe I have yet to experience it.
'elite' - so what if there is? I know I am not there, I know I cannot be the top/best amongst others .....& I know my children will not be. If there are others who make it, it's theirs. There are people who are really really good. I suppose elitism exist everywhere. IMO as long as I do my part, my kids do their part, its alright isn't it?
Am starting to feel quite tired........ :gloomy: All these negativity in ksp is quite energy-sapping.
