Daughter's encounter on her first day of attachment in UK. Her email that sounded so much like 'high pressure selling' to me. This type of Christians got 'commission' from God if they manage to convert people izzit?

Got 'attacked' by Christians (one european and one korean) today - they were promoting the crossover (it's like this seal God puts on people to save them from attacks) and after half an hour of pouring info into me and quoting stuff from all over the Bible, they asked me if I was willing to undergo the crossover (just eat bread and drink wine - the flesh and blood of Jesus), I replied no. You should have seen their faces hahaha They spluttered and tried to convince me that I had everything to gain and nothing to lose + asked why so I explained that I have a staunch Buddhist mother and dying isn't so bad because each life is a test. Yeah and the Korean guy went on to say stuff like Laos got hit by some disaster even tho the people there believe in Buddha very strongly. >___> Are you frigging serious. Then he continued by describing how scared the Buddha believers are because Buddha wasn't protecting them. So basically his message was \"YOU SEE BUDDHA DOESN'T PROTECT HIS FOLLOWERS ERGO HE IS NOT REAL YOU SHOULD BELIEVE IN GOD WHO IS TRYING TO BRING YOU BACK TO HEAVEN.\" Thank goodness they left. -__- But the nothing-to-lose-if-you-just-eat-drink-the-seal is true la but that defeats the whole purpose of religion right like you are just doing stuff to keep yourself safe - so selfish. You should really have faith and believe then it works right. PLUS they kept insinuating I'm from China ); I was so close to losing my temper.

These are the things that over zealous followers do that give the religion a bad name. But as rationale beings, we have to understand these are the acts of individual/s not the teachings of the religion.

Those Christians are over zealous fanatics. I have had such pple, including an ex boss coming to me to "convert" me from my religion too. And when I tell them I am a Catholic, lo and behold, the attack gets worse. They start challenging my knowledge of the bible and speak disrespectfully about Mother Mary, the mother of Jesus. I really hate to get into an argument with them. Feel like asking them, would you be so disrespectful to your own mother? We love Mary because she is Jesus’ mom!

As for that ex-boss, I just told him to stop the conversation, he can pretend to win the argument if he wants to. Some tote the bible but yet can act like a total idiot at work. Not true Christians, if you ask me.

I’m a Christian and I do not agree to such ‘confrontational’ attitude. People already hurting in such situation and there’s no need to be so antagonising.

we adults are able to turn these people away but what about our kids?

even though my kids attend the same church, we still keep an eye on who the ss teachers are, are they moderate or extreme christians and also the friends they have.

we prefer to share the same understanding of our religion with our kids.

they probably had good intention in offering the prayers and were not sensitive to the fact that others may not be comfortable of them doing so infront of a Buddha statue.

Same goes for our Muslim friends.

I've friends in the situation i.e., bf Muslim and gal's not. Right now fighting a battle as to whether she'd convert or not. Anyone knows what the repercussions are for her not converting? Does that mean they cannot marry?

                        Thanks.
