from experience, HCL covers additional chapters from the text, and when you prepare for HCL, you already prepare for CL.

Vk, so no need to spend extra time revising? As long as your preparing for HCL, it's as good as preparing for CL?
By the way, how different is HCL from CL at the PSLE level, other than the fact that they need to do 3 killer Comprehension passages?

for CL, you have the oral, picture compo etc, it builds foundation for HCL

for HCL, most compre questions have no chance of direct lifting of answers from the passages, it trains to child to comprehend the passage with an overall view and articulate the answers by self-expression instead of just copying

for PSLE CL / HCL, there are key words the child is expected to know and is within the text

during my time, there was no GEP no SAP, most schools are through train with pre-U centre, remember ? so we had IP school long time ago except we did O level and A level

vk2010, you're indeed more ancient than the rest of us. In your time schools went seamlessly from secondary to Pre-U? My time don't have.

can i also ask, if the kid rely on enrichment to do HCL, is it recommended that he opt for SAP sec school (eg RVHS etc)?

what do you meant by enrichment ? tuition ? SAP sec school also depends on cut off point etc; but of course SAP sec school environment aides in the language usage as well

fyi, the same tutor coached my two kids for the HCL -- very different outcome

so, conclusion : it is up to the individual
