Personally I find that it is not so good going for private tuition. Individual sessions are more likely to cause disengagement. Peer pressure is also an effective lever for many kids so long as their environment is carefully controlled.

For tuition centres, generally PSLE Math, Onsponge, TLL are the bigger names and many colleagues send their children there. For me, i prefer to have private tuition for my 2 girls. I understand their desire to produce results but i think both the tutor and child also need to connect well so that they can work together. For my math private tutor, she is flexible with timings and can work extremely well with my girls. Have been with her for 2.5 years and will continue on. Rates are around $40/hr and 2x week lessons, slightly higher but i think its also very affordable and reasonable considering that my girls are doing very well. Do consider her but i understand that slots are limited partly because current students including myself have booked and paid for many additional lessons and also a surge in many new student requests.

For mummies with p5 children, make sure to push your child now so that psle year will not be too stressful also. There are impt concepts to master so make sure there is adequate practice from tutors and centres. Good luck!

My P2 boy is currently with Concept Math. I like their debrief session but as my boy is weak in model drawing I think he has problem grasping the concept. The teacher doesn’t really ensure if the kids are able to grasp the concept. I’m not sure if it is only good for higher ability kids?

He has no problem with mental calculation but having problem trying to comprehend problem sum which requires him to draw corresponding models.

Any parents here have any feedback on Concept Math?

Anyne try eimath before for upper primary? Although the website has showed a lot of good results, there are only a few students in the class out of a maximum 8 , when I visited one of the centre. Therefore, just a concern how effective it is for upper pri?
