You might want to approach the tutor directly and request for an update. Different parents expect different things, and it might be that the teacher did not want to bother parents if things are going fine. Just a quick check to say you would like to know how your child is doing and I'm sure the teacher will respond.
Yes. We did engaged the teacher but the reviews given was very superficial. We also observed that my son had past homework undone and it was not flagged out to us until we checked his works. The tutor seems to be on MC quite often and a covering tutor was activated. I find it quite disruptive to his learning.

I see. Well, as you have engaged the tutor before and is uncomfortable with the way the class is being handled, then it's time to look for a new teacher. Is there any other teacher in Oodles that you can engage? As your kid is now in P5, there's still time for him to get acclimatized to other teachers in the same school, but it might take a bit longer if you switch him/her to another totally different school. I've not talked to Math Maven, but I've heard good things about Math Heuristics.

To give some context to my recommendation.

I faced a dilemma last year. My Primary 4 daughter was getting bored by her regular school Math worksheets and lessons.

Even after she was identified as a High Achiever Learner and selected to do E2K Math in school, she was barely interested in her Math lessons, though she was scoring above 95% in the examinations.

I was looking for a PSLE math enrichment to stretch her potential, preferably one that incorporates Advanced School Math Concepts from the GEP and Math Olympiads, to boost her AL1 chances in the PSLE.

I shortlisted Nicklebee Tutors and waitlisted my daughter for their \"Advanced School Math\" lessons.

After months on the waitlist, she enrolled for this year's P5 Advanced School Math class and I am happy to report that she is enjoying her lessons at Nicklebee Tutors and her interest in Math has been re-ignited! The worksheets and materials are 30% - 40% tougher than the regular school work and my daughter feedback that the questions are indeed challenging and though provoking.

At her request, she will be transferring to the upcoming 12-month Advanced PSLE Math Masterclass run by Nicklebee Tutors head teacher Mr Zhou.

My humble feedback to give back to the community. Tks. ๐Ÿ™

              Hello,

I would like to ask if there are any telegram/whatsapp groups/channels which parents use to recommend private tutors? Tks!

Thank you for your feedback! I'm sure it will be helpful for other parents in similar situations. Is your kid in the GEP programme?

Hi, my daughter is currently in P4 and is considered HA for Math. Any enrichment center or private tutor that can teach her math at a higher / advance level? (Preferably town or somewhere North - East)

I have enquired with Nicklebee, but their fees are way out of what we can afford.

                  Thank You!

                    Hi,
may I have some good recommendations for math primary 4 tutoring either online, 1 on 1 or small group in the east. We lived in Bedok. My dd dip in scores nowadays compared to her past years' grades. She is with TLL since P1. TLL is strong at lesson materials providing but the constant change of teachers is stressing her out. High teacher turnover rate at the centre with inexperienced teachers turn-taking to cover for my ddโ€™s class in TLL. Iโ€™m at my wits end, donโ€™t know how to help her. Appreciate your help.
                    Thank you in advance
                    Hi Peenutz_d,

I'm also located in bedok area and my DD is also P4. Am wondering if you had any good math tutor recommendation received that you can share with me? My DD isn't doing well so am looking for options.

Thanks in advance for sharing! ๐Ÿ˜Š

I don't know about the fees from Nicklebee, but you have to decide what is the fees that you are comfortable with. If you are looking for Math Olympiad training, you might be looking at $50/hr or more.

So it really depends on the objective.

Another way is to get assessment books (with higher level) and let your kid practice. Look for those with detail solution and explanations if you kid is a self-learner.

Can try Edify: Math & Science near Kovan. They are a small team of ex-MOE teachers/ PSLE markers. Good tutors, small class size and reasonable pricing. Most importantly my kids enjoy the lesson there
