mpm n enopi is more for preschoolers, in my opinion. mpm is spiral based, as in they mixed all topics together i think. its more creative n fun but enopi is more structured as its hierarchical , as in u finish 1-digit, 2-digit and 3-digit addition, then subtraction etc there is a list of levels n topics u can get frm the centre to see the progress. so progress wise its very visible. mpm i cant get overview of wat is being covered.

my boy benefits from enopi but lately i find they like to repeat the bklets 2 or 3 times whc i dont quite like cos i pay $140 a mth (same if its mpm), i expect something different each time. at least repeat only once will do.
but enopi is gd for the drill if parents dont teach any at home. if u still teach at hm, then u may expect more from the enrichment

i hv only explored bishan sakamoto. someone told me its good.
the real sakamoto mthd is done only in p4. but for preschoolers - p3, its teaching problem solving. gd in the sense its teaching problem solving n very relevant to moe syllabus n only 70 a mth. i m considering that too.
but the wkbks are just like tuition materials. but for my boy who is unteachable at home, i may give it a try. problem sums are not easy to teach to a young kid

We encountered the same issues with my pre-schooler.... So I understand what you mean.

I spoke to the teacher and she said that it's due to the Korean mgt style and they believe that they child should repeat until they are proficient. I shared with her my feedback and she said that she has feedback to them that they should let her move on and potentially revisit the weak areas iso doing the same thing over and over :x The child will lose interest.

I was open that if this doesn't improve, I will not hesitate to move my child.

          hi MMM

ya, enopi did help my boy to hv a kickstart but if they keep repeatg, sometimes thrice the same bklet, i see no point why i must pay $35 per lesson. can repeat concept thru different bklet mah

            Hi 24hr-mum / MMM

I see yr point. Mine is in CMA now, so I dun tink I’ll let him in enopi bah, since u mentioned 1 digit, 2 digit and so on…, sounds quite dry.

I just started fan-math (P1), quite easy, but most importantly I want him to start with a confident level. So as to say, for me, if I teaches him using any assessment books, dun need to go for the Sakatomo?
Very confused now, dun know wat to give him…maybe MPM, he will enjoy.

Looks like got to go down to all the 3 centres for more info.

Thanks for sharing and your valuable information.
            gsk

After the korean mgt came on board, they dropped all the levels and I heard a couple dropped out as a result of that..... I've a feeling that they are living in a world of their own and not receptive to Singapore education system. But I heard they brought in a new person so hopefully this person is more receptive and do the right things.

My older kids dropped to lower level and doing simpler stuff... After they cleared, they went back to the level they stopped at previously. I saw my they benefitted so I was not willing to give up. This is their 3rd yr.

Meanwhile for my younger, I am monitoring the situation. She is P1 next yr so we only 1 year left. If situation don't change, I might have to think of soemthing else.

                hi MMM

what do u mean by drop level? u mean if eg now at level 4, they make the child go back to level 3?

mine only started in aug last yr, wif the new mgt.

ur other kids are how old already? does it help in upper pri math?
was hesitant cos it doesnt cover much problem sums n heuristics. hence i didnt put my p3 girl there

Yes. eg. my P4 doing level 15???? I need to check. She went back to level 10 for reinforcement. Once she cleared, she is back to 15. Similar for my P3.

My P4 started enopi since P2. we saw positive eg. her scores move from early 80 to early 90 at end P2. Then in P3, she did 80+ for maths. Except during SA2, due to complacency and careless mistakes, she scored 70+ but it's a paper she can easily do 90. :x But generally, her confidence level is there. It's a subject that she don't fear and find it manageable and is definitely capable of scoring 80+.

Also she was learning in advance of her peers. Eg. she was doing area last year before the drop level.

But I am not sure if it is a good idea for existing P3 to join now. The child might not be able to start at a high level. Eg. I heard from my P4 that one of her schoolmates just joined and she is doing a level that is pretty low. In fact lower than my P3. Note that that program are not based on level in school but competency.

i let my p3 tried last nov when she was stil p2, was at level 12 only

i wasnt sure whr to let her continue becos it doesnt cover much problem sums n my girl was ok wif basic maths. only problem wf problem sums. so i dropped her.

thinking of tryg sakamoto n those normal tuition eg onsponge n perceptum for her this yr.

the enopi materials are gd for foundation but to pay 140 a mth n the teacher i dont think really teach, they just guide, i cant justify to myself. so i dropped her. only my k2 boy is still there to build the foundatn

Enopi is a franchise biz. Do check the centres carefully.

Hi Juennifer, Thank you very much.

As we stay at Tiong Bahru area, the most convinience center is Main Centre at Novena Square 2, I'm not sure whether this center is good or not. Do you have any suggestion on how to check the centres? Really appreciate for your kindly reply...[/quote]HQ took over operations and started enrolment somewhere in Aug 2010 and the centres which began Enopi since 2007 (the pioneers) are namely the Toa Payoh branch, Roxy Square branch - Socratics something and The Thinking Cove at Beauty World. All the other centres are new.

I enrolled my DD to Enopi during school holiday period, and withdraw after new semester started.

The main reason is the tight time schedule of my DD. And I also feel Enopi is a little bit slow for the progress. As for the whole month, my DD kept doing subtration exercise, no tuition…

I’m now trying to find a really good math tuition center. I’m thinking of try TLL math…
