How to teach angles?

If the angle is too close, the students should be accurate in their reading. If it is the paper, do you give them a thick paper or normal A4 paper? thank you in advance.

My boy's teacher taught them to use normal A4 paper.

The teacher also told the students that protractor was allowed in exams. So, if you want to be safe, get a protractor.

For my boy, it was easier for him to grasp the concept using paper than protractor initially. Start with paper and proceed to protractor thereafter.

Hmm...This is something important to know. Thank you for sharing. I am really worried as my DD may require a lot of training/coaching before she can master this part. sigh.....

Introduced the topic "angles" to DD two days ago. I used the paper, protector and ruler. She seems to be comfortable with the ruler.


Guessing method or prediction method…Hmmmm…most of the times she guessed correctly but sometimes…wrong. May be she needs time. I asked her to guess and write down first and then measure using the ruler. Seems to be fine.

She had problem in using the protector. She could not align the lines properly. Must test after a week again.

Complex figure where several lines overlap with each other - something like that. Anyway my DD is fine with that now as she went thro' several similar questions.
