Hunger Game

I finally finished Trilogy of "Hunger Game", "Catching Fire" and "Mocking-jay". I cannot stop reading them. Really need to digest more of writing though.


Anyone has read the books yet?

I have read the first 2 books. Loved them. Have the ebook for Mockingjay but haven’t got the time to start it. Did you watch the movie?

Read the trilogy before the movie version. I enjoyed the first 2 books, Hunger Games and Catching Fire more. Didn’t quite enjoy reading Mockingjay. Found the plot and writing convoluted after a while for the 3rd book.


But HG was brilliant. Cd not put it down. Initially, I felt the theme gory and dark - it’s Survivor for real. Introduced the books to my girls after I read it and now they are also hooked on the books.

Is the theme too mature for a 7yr old to read? Was intending to get it for ds to read since it’s in the top selling list.

I bought the 3 books intending to read them when I can find the time but DD hijacked them. Both kiddos have watched the show, I on the other hand did not as I could not take way the movie was shot. Too much camera movements.


I think it is a bit of a heavy reading for DS who is 7yrs old but for DD who is 9yrs old, I think she can manage it.

Yes, I did. the movie is quite faithful to original novel, though they omitted some story lines and characters.

Like the movie too. It was after watching movie, DD went to find the books.

Me too, I also found the third book was hard to digest. Katness was made too mature for her age. The ending was not as brilliantly crafted as the beginning. But overall, wonderful books. My P6 DD was reading them right into the PSLE.

I think it will be hard for 7yr old. My DD P6 and DS Sec2 both enjoy reading HG, but not my 10 yr and 8 yr. At least not yet.
