      :stompfeet: :stompfeet: :stompfeet: :stupid:

The west countries have crumbled under pressure from gay rights groups and through the use of law, banned the words \"Mother\" and \"Father\"!

The gay rights groups said that the 2 words are homophobic and discriminates against same-sex parents (Male-Male couple with adopted children or Female-Female couple with adopted children).

The society has gone insane!

As parents, one of the best moments in life is when our little ones calls you \"Maaamaaaa\" or \"Baaabaaaa\". Who still remember that magical moment? I do. 😓

In every society since the beginning of civilization, the child simply call the Mother, mother, the Father, father. It is something so natural, so magical and irrefutable.

Just because the gays are allowed to marry under the eyes of law doesn't mean they can go around pressuring the society to accept their narrow views of parenting!

The gays can co-habitat, stay together for all they want; it's their choice! But for goodness sake, do not ever impose their views on how the society is going to be run and cry discrimination!

I knw recently there are news about gays here feeling discriminated over anti-gay sex law because that gay was caught in the public toilet having sex with another man. For goodness sake, you want to hanky, get away from public eye or public places; or go into hotels or something. Yes they can argue that straight couples can hanky in public but they can't? Straight couples hanky in public if get caught will also kanna charged mah!! What's the difference?!

In Singapore there are already openly gay clubs and they already have their pink dot event. Yes it is their right to love but do not impose their narrow views on society please!!!!!!!

If one day our country is going to be like the western countries, my vote will definitely not going to the PAP!!!!!!

Okay. I feel better now :stupid: 😓

      the source of my anguish:
      http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/france-to-ban-mother-and-father-in-all-legal-terminology

France to ban ‘mother’ and ‘father’ in all legal terminology

PARIS, September 27, 2012, (LifeSiteNews.com) – As with most of the jurisdictions that have adopted “gay marriage,” France will be changing the language of its laws and regulations related to marriage and parenthood to eliminate the terms “mother” and “father”. All references to mothers and fathers, the government has said, will be changed to “parents”.

The new socialist government has promised to bring forward a law by the end of October. They have already said there will be no provisions granted for conscientious objections from state marriage ministers.

The bill, being drafted now, will create identical marriage ceremonies for same-sex partners as for natural marriages. French media reports that the bill calls marriage “a union of two people, of different or the same gender”.

It will also grant adoption rights to homosexual partners.

Justice Minister Christiane Taubira told the French Catholic newspaper La Croix, “Who is to say that a heterosexual couple will bring a child up better than a homosexual couple, that they will guarantee the best conditions for the child’s development?”

“What is certain is that the interest of the child is a major preoccupation for the government,” she continued.

The alteration of language in all laws related in any way to marriage has become standard for all jurisdictions that have adopted “gay marriage” or even civil unions.

In the Canadian province of Nova Scotia in 2007, following a human rights complaint by homosexuals, the provincial government approved regulations allowing birth certificates to register a lesbian “spouse” of a birth mother as the “other parent”. In the same year, the state Senate of California approved legislation substituting the term “two persons” for “man and wife” in all state references to marriage.

Immediately following the passage of same-sex “marriage” legislation in Spain, the government ordered that the terms “mother” and “father” were to be replaced in the State Civil Registries Family Book with the headings, progenitor A, and progenitor B.

Similar actions have been taken by governments in Ontario and Prince Edward Island, the US state of Massachusetts and the Australian state of Victoria.

Ontario banned “mother” and “father” as well as the terms “wife”, “husband”, “widow”, and “widower” from all statutes. In 2005, in Prince Edward Island, the Conservative government proposed to amend the law to remove all references to husbands and wives in favour of the gender-neutral “spouse.”

In Scotland in 2007, at the request of the homosexualist lobby group Stonewall, nurses were told by the National Health Service that “mother” and “father” were homophobic. They were to be replaced with “carers” or “guardians.” The terms “husband”, “wife”, and “marriage” must be replaced with “partners” and “close friend.”

Might get a bit cumbersome having to refer the mother and father as parent1 and parent2…

From my understanding after reading the article, the words mother and father are replaced with parents in forms and such. I don’t think kids with

heterosexual parents cannot call them mummy and daddy or other variations.

I mean for same sex couples, it would not be possible to designate who’s the father and who’s the mother. I guess there can be 2 forms printed, 1 for heterosexual parents and same sex couples but then it might perceive as a form of discrimination.

The norm of a society is determined by the communities within the particular society. If some have accepted that same sex couples is the norm then just live and let live. I think it’s good that they are able to accommodate.

It must be a relieve to live without discrimination, at least in the legal sense.

If the PAP allows polygamy, one husband multiple wives, will your vote still go to them?

              2 different issues.

Same sex couples are monogamous too.

But this is homophobic and discriminatory. Why only couples can marry? Why singles cannot marry themselves? Why threesomes and foursomes cannot marry and form a family unit?

Why only couples can adopt? Why single or threesome cannot?

                Why? Why? Why? :stompfeet:

Singles and threesomes do have kids…but both topic sensitive to comment. As for adoption. I guess for the threesome under certain condition it might be possible.

I do not feel quite right if I am not addressed as the father of my child. So I have to discuss with wifey who should be Parent 1 and Parent 2

Actually many things in life are \"discriminatory\". It's how u live with it 😄

In their countries, LGBT are able to get married and gain state recognition. But I understand there's are differences between Civil Union and full Marriage in their context and they are pushing for their respective states to recognize a \"Full marriage\".

I think the issue here is about reaching a compromise and testing the limits on how far the society is able to accept diverse views from a seemingly \"minority\" group.

The gay sex law in this context of this discussion is 377A, which prohibits the sex between 2 consenting males. Yes it is discriminatory because sex between 2 consenting males is illegal but sex between 2 consenting females is not.  So by that argument, gays here are perceived to be criminals due to 377A. I am not supporting the gays because if they argue they are perceived to be criminals due to 377A, then almost the whole of Singapore are criminals because I'm sure majority of Singaporeans regardless of sexual orientations bought pirated DVDs or downloaded movies from the net one way or another. Also, I guess some of us here watch porn with your wife or your husband? Technically we are all criminals. So the issue here is whether do the Police enforce these anti-piracy laws / copyright laws / anti-porn laws / anti-gay sex law. :?

that's why i always tell people, many things in life are \"discriminatory\". It's how u live with it 😄 Btw, I feel Woman's Charter is discriminatory!!!!

Singles (regardless whether they are male or female) can adopt children. Shocking to know? :yikes:
[quote]You may adopt a child if you satisfy the following requirements:

                        - Being a Resident of Singapore
                        - At least 25 years of age
                        - At least 21 years older than the child

Even if you are under the age of 25 and less than 21 years older than the child, the adoption may be allowed if you and the child are related by blood or if there are other special circumstances justifying the adoption.

If you are a single male, you will not be allowed to adopt a female child in the absence of special circumstances to justify the adoption. [They are assuming everyone is heterosexual. This is also discriminatory against the non-heterosexuals! 😓 Remember the recent report about the male tuition teacher who preyed on his male students...]

A married person cannot on his/her own adopt a child unless the consent of his/her spouse is given. An exception is when the spouse cannot be found or is incapable of giving consent or is living apart and the separation is likely to be permanent. In such a case, the Court may dispense with such consent.

Foreign prospective adoptive parents (including permanent residents in Singapore) should consult their respective embassies and obtain a letter stating the embassies? support for the adoption and that the child will be conferred citizenship upon application by the adoptive parents.
