It will depend on the chairman and the committee. Certain \"sleeping\" GRLs can't be removed due to some tactical reasons :censored:
Heard from frenzs that for GRLs, appointment is for two yrs. after two yrs, so called \"renewed their terms\". could \"sleeping\" GRLs won't be \"renewed\" by PA after their initial two yrs ended? -

I agree. Some can't be removed. If you know the criteria set by PA on the type of members in the RC in order to get the \"4 stars\", you will know some members are planted for this purpose only. I am getting sick of this whole \"game\". It's so fake!

But by and large, before each new term starts, we'll do a \"clean-up\" of sleeping members. -
Hi,
anyone noes if there is a limit to the no. of EM in the RC? I just joined an RC recently as observer and noticed there are more than 10 observers and abt 15 EM or more⦠So many!! When will i get a chance to be promoted??
I mean is there like a renewal thing like EM got to step down after how many yrs? It seems like the term is for 2 yrs which means they only change next yr. So does it mean if i cant get to be an EM next yr then i have no chance? I need to register my ger in 2014, she is going to p 1 in 2015. Thanks! -
Hi daddy2007,
I just pm you. -

The max EM per RC is 30. There is no limit on number of terms that an EM can serve, so they could effectively go on and on and never step down. Only executive appt such as Chairman has a max. terms of 3, which is 6 yrs. What you see may not be the true picture, as many EM may not have turned up. You should check with the PA staff supporting your RC the official list for your RC. If your RC already max out, then you can't be confirmed EM. You need to discuss with PA as well as your Chairman to resolve it. In any case, your RC seems to have many observers in front of you. But confirmation as EM is not FCFS, it depends on individual's commitment and contributions. We can effectively hold an observer forever if he is not active but in most cases, we removed his/her name if he failed to turn up for monthly meeting or events consecutively.Hi,

According to my dh who is a Community leader, he said that you can go to the nearest CC to your house to fill up the form. And you have to be in service for at least a year inorder to enjoy the privilege of selecting the schools under the RC zone..you can check with the CC whether the school which u are eyeing at is under the RC zone...Hope I have given u the correct infoAs I would like to Join the Rc member , How do i go about doing it ?

Eh... after u have joined, u will be an observer. The time spent as an observer is not counted. It is when you become a executive member, the one year term is counted.

Hi,
would like the experienced parents to give feedback and advise. Let say I am staying in A GRC is it mean I canβt be volunteers of others B 0r C GRC? As the pri sch which i want to enrol my child is not within my GRC but is near to our future purchased property(within 1km) but still building in progress n be ready in 2014. But our DS is going pri 1 in 2013. Do you think we still in time to be volunteers for the GRC (as DS registering P1 in next year)? -
Hi Jongsn
I learnt alot from this forum so I shall share the info I know with you and hope it helps.
First, only Exccutive Member in GRC's RC/NC can qualify for P2B. And only resident residing in the GRC itself can be Executive Member (EM). So as you are now staying in GRC A, that means even if you volunteer in GRC B, you will not be Executive Member. (Those experienced member pls correct me if i am wrong)
Secondly, you need to serve the GRC as an EM for at least one year before you qualify for the letter for P2B. Since your child is going pri 1 in 2013, that means registration is July 2012 and you need to serve from Jun 2011 so to be entitled for the letter in June 2012.
It would still be good if you can also call the GRC office to verify the above
If the above seemed too late for you, you might want to try to apply to the school as Parent Volunteer. Registration is Jul 2012 for 2013 intake, try to call the school and check their PV regiatration date soon as schools do have deadline for such application.
Hope it helps.
