        Hi plum-cake,
I have yet to check out \"Visible Thinking in Mathematics\". Sounds interesting.

Personally, I feel that branch modelling is more suitable for upper primary when the kids start learning about fractions. Not to worry, you still have plenty of time to master that....keke.

Unfortunately, onsponge is not available to P1/P2. They have onsponge books and onsponge holiday workshops for P3-P6. If you're interested, here are the sample pages of the onsponge P3 book for you to check it out.

Don’t frighten the kids at lower pri with challenging Maths. I bought Simon Eio ‘Score in Math’ with 3 levels of difficulties for my boy. This way, he is motivated to move on to try the difficult and then challenging levels.

Dawn Tai’s Challenging Maths 4-in-1 is tough.

I have enough books. but that book title is a bit flashiii \"Visible Thinking in Mathematics\". might look for it . I couldn't forget that name.

but you are 100% correct..only I am doing fan math, andrew er with her now. I might start problem solving process in mathematics when I teach her bar modelling. that is scheduled on wednesday 26th. major reason is finding Time to do everything.

I have seen \"Visible thinking in Mathematics\". Basically the book teaches how to cross out when counting etc to avoid careless mistakes or recounting... how to use fingers to do addition and subtraction...

I am using Shaping Math and Excel in Math in the first term...will start Simon Eio's Models in Term 2.

Interestingly, DD enjoyed Dawn Tai's Challenging 4-in1 Maths when she was in P1 last year. The other one that she enjoys is Andrew Er's Challenging Problem. She was totally bored with the week by week revision that I got her initially, cannot remember by who. Have yet to start her on any assessments, so not sure if she still likes these 2 now that she is in P2. Have not tried Simon Eio's assessments before maybe I'll check them out this weekend.

Didn't get week-by-week for her...but Fabian Ng, Simon Eio's Models and Fan-Math. My son in P5 has Longman Maths Weekly though. Will focus on these 2 books for Term 1 and then include Models from Term 2...should be well-covered for P1 (I think) and yet won't frighten her.

For DD, her P1 syllabus did not include Models. Have yet to fully look through her text for this year so not sure if they are starting this year.

Haiz… this mummy is totally blur when it comes to models. Think I need to buy some assessments and do them myself.

Son started learning Models in school only at P3...which is really late. Thus a friend advised me to start younger child at P1...so that it will be a habit to use models to solve any problem question. But I'm still wondering if Models will be taught at P1 in her school.
