The rush was something that she was more than happy to get into, right?

I had called CHS. Priority will be given to PV when it comes to waiting list. Catholic has no priority. Anyway, the lady told me that no one has ever withdrawn from CHS after being given a place. Can anyone here prove that she is WRONG? No one ever? I don't believe it.
What type of Catholic school is Catholic High? Catholics have no priority? Is it true she said that? I cannot believe my ears. I better tell the archbishop this. Then they should have said this earlier and get all Catholics to volunteer. I will ask this question to her tomorrow and record her down.
Bigfoot, did you ask her why this is so? -
OK, Catholic bishan mommies who still have time…if you desperately want Cat high, please try to offer to do PV if you can. From what BigFoot has gathered, it seems Cat high gives priority to PVs, not Catholics. Found out too late…

I was upset when she said that. Upset not because priority was given to PV but the way she sounded, it was kinda rude. Anyway, I am not surprise that they give PV priority. To be fair, they offered their services to the school. This is ONLY applicable for those on waiting list. And since she told me NO ONE will withdraw, I stop questioning her anymore. Afterall, it is the school to decide who shd have priority. I believe PV has as much right as Catholic to send their kids to CHS.

Just my thoughts. I am still putting my hope in getting into Maris Stella. -

likewise a SHHK member may not be able to get into a SHHK school

I am seriously disappointed with the way CHS is putting itself out to be... so elitist and snobbish. I really miss the brothers and sisters that used to be principals of such schools. Makes me want to move house now...

I seriously think anyone in waitlist would have a v v v slim chance of getting a place anyway, so why get all worked up?

Yes, you are right. Thanks for putting things in perspective. And as you said, the PVs may not even get a chance to exercise their rights. Just irritated with the lady's attitude towards Big Foot. -

I think so, too. This is the reality : students with a place in a good school do not transfer out 99.99% of the time. Even when their parents are moving overseas, they take LOA (leave of absense). That means they keep the place in the school just by paying the school fees. This is a fact. However, those schools with a lot of expats (eg SCGS) tend to have vacancies more often.

For top schools, if your child has some added-values like recognised special skills eg outstanding performance in swimming competitions etc or \"contribute\" to the school, they would be placed very high on the waitlist. In P3, the classes are generally larger, from 30 to 40 students per class. Chances are higher of getting into the school at this time. So, make sure your child's academic results are very good. The two boys I know who transferred into CatHigh at P3 were not Catholics but consistently top students from P1 to end of P2. -
Hmm… Maybe worse come to worse, i send my kids to enrichment classes, make sure they do well n go to either CH SEC or RI.
