Would like to know if any kids is taking school bus? I am staying in Tampines… and not sure if the sch bus can go that far. Is there a pre-designated bus company taking care? would be great to have the contact. thanks
Also, can i know the PSLE passing results for this year? and average T score? -
I will be registering our dear son to APS for 2019 Pri 1 intake. Was from AMKNPS hence eligible for 2A2, looking forward to it!

Does anyone in APS attends Pro-teach student care at amk ave4? How's the Teachers and food there?
Like all other Pro-teach centres, this student care is popular.
Food wise is regular meals for lunch and tit-bits during tea break. You can see children smiling and feel safe putting them there.
Teachers are very kind & strict, some are there for many years. Students will finish most of the hw & Pro-teach materials as well as tingxie/ spelling. It's all about rushing tight timeline.
Due to the big class size:
- Classrooms are fully packed with tables and chairs. Kids sitting middle/end side will have very hard time to come out just for toilet relief or even bring schoolbags out. It's not safe for children when it come to fire emergency despite the centre is the bomb shelter site.
- When student asks questions, either teachers are rushing to finish the Pro-teach materials or attending other matters. From what I see mostly are unanswered, similarly like schooldays. Teachers cannot cope with so many children. They do not have the time to sit down, explain conceptual reasons. Please don't expect the teachers to have high morale.
If any child is unable to do, simply copy & submit. Teachers will not test them whether they know this or not. Their mindset is just to make sure children do write down on the Pro-teach materials (except for 1 teacher who is delicate). Once time's up these worksheets will return back to parents.
- Do bear in mind, teachers will not take initiative to inform you about your child performance as this is simply a student care centre, not tuition centre. What you pay is what you get.
- Toilets are very stinky, the same area for bathing where the hot water storage always not doing well.
- For CCA student, just pay $2+ to schoolbus driver & tell him pro teach amk, he'll drop the child at the bus stop right in front of centre.
Typical student care centre business. It's all about marketing skills.
Important note: If you are heavily relying teachers on quality teaching, not that I know of.
Depends on what you need. -

It wasn’t announced. I believe this is the norm in all schools now. They only showed the top 3 students from each class followed by the top students in the cohort. No mention of how much they got.Would like to know if any kids is taking school bus? I am staying in Tampines.. and not sure if the sch bus can go that far. Like many parents, I’m very curious about APS? Some parents have feedback that the school has been over-rated, but many are still rushing to get their kids in. It couldn’t be becos of vicinity or phrase 2A option right? Called the school if they have Open House and they said they don’t have. Asked them then how I know how’s the environment and facilities are conducive for learning? They just replied many parents are ‘queuing’ to sent their kids here and so far no one complained. I was like??? Some also say that APS is an elite school. Can anyone define elite in this context?

I had the same feel on anderson. There’s no affiliation to the secondary school. So probably a competitive environment but is that what you want…gotta ask yourself.

Managed to visit and tour the school. Overall, clean and vibrant environment with many facilities. School will take-in a total of 7 P1 classes with 30 students each. Rounding up to approximately 1,300 students in total. However, the student care centre is pretty small, can accommodate to only 60 kids. So may not have much placement opportunities for those who wish to place their kids there. According to the staff, their last year’s PSLE result is ranked above national average.
Canteen food seems a little costly. Saw a stall charging $1.20 - $1.50 on the price list for some sort of noodle of rice. Can’t recall clearly. Was thinking if $2 is even enough for my kid to consume a proper meal there.
Those who wish to pick-up and drop-off kids via personal vehicle may find it a little challenging. The only place to do so is along the road which has only 2 lanes and is offended congested.
When asked about their strengths, they just mentioned that they are a neighbourhood school and not to compare with other top schools.
Will be going to Mayflower Primary for their Open House to find out more about what they offer. -
They had an open house??
-
Nope, I requested to view the school before making decision. So that arranged a time for me to tour with their staff.

Oic! Thats nice. So it was like a personal tour? How do we go about it? Call in or email in?
