Dear all, glad to find this thread. Unfortunately the school's website is unavailable. I'm staying in Chai Chee St and my girl will be going to primary 1 next year. The chances of my girl getting into St Anthony Canossian Pri is very slim. My other options will be either East Coast Pri or Opera Estate Pri. After reading this thread, I'm liking this sch already. Having students from different cultural backgrounds is not a bad thing.

based on past years registration, I believe is quite easy to secure a seat in OEPS. However, nothing is guarantee
my boy is in P2 this year, so far I don't have much concerns pertaining to the school, except the school location. Different parents have different set of expectations, hence you may like to be slightly more specific in which area you like to know more and parents here may be able to share some of their experiences.
For eg. I did receive PM with questions on type of CCA in the school offers. Some parents like their kids to major in certain sport in order to help them in getting into certain sec sch. Think very far hor ... ...
Academic wise, this term, homework allocation still on light side which I have no complaint cos this help me better manage my boy strength and weakness. If there are too much homework, and I still introduce supplementary exercises on topics he is weak in, that most likely going to turn him off.
nowadays there is no exam for P1 and P2, but there are bite-sized/topical tests, show-and-tell, ask-and-tell, listening compr, running records, etc to assess them. Very different from my time :scratchhead:

no sure if you have visited the school or walk around the neighborhood. Just like other Pri school, parents are not allow to enter school compound unless for some valid reasons. Some schools do have gazebo for parents/caregivers but there isn't any at OEPS. There is a short sheltered walk way with 3-4 benches but that is provided the staff open the gate early, otherwise, there is only a bus stop outside the school for sun and rain :slapshead:

as that is a landed properties area, there is no public carpark, for pick up, most parents' driver will have to be there early in order to chop a shady lane to park and wait.
driving to the school in the morning can be challenging task too :nailbite: due to the narrow lanes and waiting for some parents to kiss and hug their kids before driving off, advisable to be slightly early even the school intake is small and quite a number of students cycle / take a school bus.
There is only one bus (no. 42), the next nearest bus stop (5 min walk up slope) has no. 40 and 401.
I stay at bedok reservoir view, there is no direct bus and to drive from my place to school is quite a distance too ... sigh ... -

CCA starts at 2pm and ends at 4pm. Some CCA are conducted once a week while some are twice weekly. OEPS website is up, you may check out the list of CCA available and details under the CCA page.

However, please note that CCA is not compulsory for P1 and P2. Also, not all CCA take in P1 and P2 students.
Multiple pick up timing? As far as I know all levels end their lessons at 1:30pm. Students taking school bus will proceed to their respective bus queue. CCA pick up is at 4pm, but not many students taking. Most of the time I saw 2 mini buses. Student care ends at 6pm but not sure about the bus pick up timing.
Cases where parents need to self arrange transport:[list]- 1. There are no extra classes for P1 and P2, except for student under learning support program. I am not sure about the program schedule, hence unable to share much.
[/list][list]- 2. For opt-in activities after lessons. School does source for some non-aca program (eg. kids athletic) for students who are keen to enroll, of cos at a cost which deductible via edusave. This program usual runs for 4-6 lessons ie. 4-6 weeks. During this period, parents have to self arrange pickup or check if bus operator able to take up this assignment at a separate fees.
[/list]Transport arrangement can be troublesome, that is why many parents choose not to let their kids take on CCA for the 1st year. -

where can I find info about the school bus routes to / from OEPS? considering OEPS, but my-in-laws stay at Simei. wonder if school bus can send kid from school to Simei.
