i am 1982. think one of the oldest here

my hub grad in 1982... :boogie: -
I graduated in 1990 from RS. Good school. Too bad I m staying in Upp Bt Timah so I can't register my DS at RS
But I am amazed some parents would do that, subjecting their children to the long travel hours everyday... -

Ha ha.. too obvious to post the list of schools in here. Nevertheless, the only reason why i keep changing is because the school is not meeting my expectation in terms of academics performance. I am not making a sweeping statement that schools she had left were no good as end of the day, i do acknowledge that every school is enriching her in some way or another. The decision i take is solely on my expectation of her and the school. The teaching must align as i am closely supervising her myself too.
Oh, from my understanding, RSS is not very academic either. According to parents whose kids are still studying there, its standard dropped quite a fair bit compared to years ago.Kelsy:
Of course this is the school that i have wait-list too. Unfortunately, most of the SAP schools in the East offered me the place except TNS.
Just curious too....which school your child transferred from. And what's the reason for transferring?
General complaint I heard is that the school under teached. For instance, Science notes are so sparing that there are hardly sufficient notes to prepare for exam. Yet exam papers have relatively good standard so it's rather hard for kids without external enrichments to do well. Parents must be very hardworking to make up the lack of teaching.
Two of my acquaitances waitlisted their kids at Yu Neng and Tao Nan since last year. Then again, this is hearsay from them. Maybe your own experience is more favourable. -

Having been to 3 different popular schools, i have kinda given up hope that schools will actually \"teach\". Least I asked for is some standard in the regular tests and exam papers to make me continue to stay on guard re kid's academics.. :xedfingers: Nevertheless, I am currently still pleased with the school for not streaming the kids at early age and provide equal materials to all classes. Note is \"provide\" but did they teach ? I am equally clueless too cos gal is always waiting for me to explain, despite having tuition at TLLs.. :?
As I am putting up in MP and child in TLL, it is an easy target to find TN parents around this vacinity. Was told situation was quite bad there, never teach and yet, stressed parents to send for enrichment for underperforming kids.. I believe to some extent as these parents are not merely my acquaintances but parents I knew since child in Nursery. The parent's looks tell too..
Anyway, whatever it is, I have long concluded that parent is the best tutor or maybe the main tutor for most schools, given the limited resources ? -

In the school's web page, there is information about th bus operators for each area. Try calling them and enquire. -

If attending tuition at TLL & with your help, I guess it doesn't matter which school they're in then. Your kids will definitely do well
My earlier comments referring more to those kids without much tuition or parents' help. Just relying on sparing science notes are definitely insufficient to do well for exam. -
It is interesting to note that standards in schools are ‘falling’. Could it be parents’ expectations have risen? Esp with the proliferating tuition centres sprouting in S’pore, the materials provided by them are actually more challenging than those done in the schools.
