Thanks, Firefly38. I am waiting for the school to revert wrt to our transfer application.
To answer your questions..bridesep:
Dear parents
My DS is not from CHP but I have intention to transfer him. May I know how current parents feel about the school? Is there any advice from current parents in terms of homework load, school culture? Does CHP offer volleyball as a creational CCA? What is CHP's niche CCA? Thanks in advance, very eager to know more about the school.
- Is there any advice from current parents in terms of homework load, school culture?
Homework load is reasonable & manageable. The boys seem to do most of their work in school (eg.compos), hence they don't have a lot of work to do at home.
- Does CHP offer volleyball as a creational CCA?
Most sports CCAs used to have school team (meet 2x a week) & recreation (meet 1x per week). There have been some changes lately. Please check with school.
- What is CHP's niche CCA?
Sports & Aesthetics. Debate too. CHS places great emphasis on CCAs, besides academics.
You can visit the school's website for more information. You can also read through this thread, if you have the time..

I read about the recent thread of \"top class\". Back in my son's current school (and I believe is common among many schools), there is no streaming but a reallocation of classes at P3. This is to allow pupils to get to know more pupils and make more friends. The only streaming is at P5 when the pupils are allocated to the classses according to the pupils' ability. This is to allow the teachers to pay more attention to the weaker classes and they have many more remedia classes for the weaker students and to better prepare them for PSLE. It is more to help the pupils and not so much to promote elitism. So back to CHP, with the recent change, there wont be any reallocation of classes at all? So pupils dont get to change classes all the way from P1 to P6 ? Just trying to understand the system. Tks, parents for sharing. -
When I heard Mr Lee’s announcement at prize giving, my first thought was: there must still be some kind of banding, cos there will still be the intermingling GEM classes with the gep classes. Wonder how they’ll effect this.

ALL THE BEST to our P6 boys in their PSLE results tomorrow ! :rahrah:
May the boys do CHS proud, like in all previous years !!
Cheers & God Bless !!! -
Any parents staying in punggol with kids in CHS?

I heard that the affiliation PSLE cut-off point to enter CHS Secondary has gone up to 240. Does anyone know if it is fixed at 240? Or is it dependent on the number of applicants from affiliated CHS Primary?

2012 COP for CHSP boys was 240 (public 249).. Anyone remembers the affiliated COP in 2011 ? Should be lower than 240..
Lets see what happens this year.. The affiliated COP seems to be on an upward trend..

When we registered for P1 for 2010 intake, we were given a letter stating the cut off point is 240…I wonder this still holds 2 years later. Ds is going P5 next year.
Btw, can we check the class posting online?? Or do we have to go back to school?? -
This year cut off is 240 but Mr Lee did mentioned even at 235 you should put cat high as 1st choice
DS didn't score high enough to continue with Cat High, he certainly gonna miss his sch

Oh, so the affiliated COP has been made known to the boys before they submit their choice of sec schools. Wonder if it will remain at 240 next year..This year cut off is 240 but Mr Lee did mentioned even at 235 you should put cat high as 1st choice

Sorry to hear about your DS' case. Maybe you can place CHS as 1st choice and appeal after posting results is out ? Was your DS in any aesthetics or sports CCA, which may be helpful in his appeal later ?
